Access to starting point:
A) From Kranjska Gora over the mountain pass Vršič or Predel we drive in Bovec, where we park at the bottom station of the cable car on Kanin (cableway is located near the gas station). Then we buy a ticket and go with a cable car to D station.
B) From Primorska side we at first drive into a valley of river Soča and then through Tolmin and Kobarid we get to Bovec, where we park at the bottom station of the cable car on Kanin (cableway is located near the gas station). Then we buy a ticket and go with a cable car to D station.
Path description:
From D station we go slightly left on the path in the direction of Kanin and mountain hut (slightly right Prestreljenik and Rombon). We at first walk on the route of the ski slope, and then the path splits. Slightly to the right continues the path on Visoki Kanin and the path towards the window in Prestreljenik, and we continue slightly to the left and by the foot of the scree we walk to the foot of a smaller wall. Here the steel cables show up with the help of which we ascend over technically demanding part. After approximately 15 minutes, the steepness decreases and a panoramic path then continues with some shorter ascents and descents, on exposed parts, where the path runs above cracks or abysses, we still get help from fixed safety gear. Such a path which continues on Kanin karst terrain, we then follow to bivouac, from which in few steps we descend to the mountain hut Dom Petra Skalarja na Kaninu.
From the hut, we return to bivouac, which we bypass on the left side, and then we continue on a marked path in the direction of Visoki Kanin, where the path leads us towards the northwest. The path which here and there also descends a little, mostly leads on an indistinct ridge and there we soon reach the secondary peak of Vrh Osojnic (2348 meters). Here the ridge narrows a little, and we still follow the marked path. When we reach the next little more distinct peak with a cairn we are on Vrh Osojnic (2371 meters).
