Access to starting point:
We drive to Luče (to here from Mozirje or over Kranjski rak) and forward towards Logarska dolina. Soon after the village Solčava we come to the crossroad, where a road to valley Logarska dolina branches off to the left. We turn right towards Matkov kot and we park on a parking lot opposite of the chapel.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the main road to a macadam road left, we go on this road and then right past a log cabin upwards in the forest. When we come to a new forest road, we go on the road right and we leave it at the left turn. We continue straight on a forest path to a greater steepness, where the path ends. From here we ascend on the easiest variant among the rocks and trees to the ridge. At the beginning of the ridge there is a nice view towards Klemenča peč.
We continue left on the ridge, we are avoiding the problems to the right.
We soon come on a lushly vegetated part of the path, where we are breaking through a dry spruce branches. Higher the ridge becomes easier passable and also a deer path appears, to which we stick more or less to Veliki vrh. Before Veliki vrh we avoid the problems at first with a short descent on rocks left and then on an exposed passage right. Before the peak awaits also a climbing under the dwarf pines and a steep grassy access to the summit. To here we needed 3 hours.
Veliki vrh offers, regarding its modest height, one of better views. A good reason for a first longer rest!
From Veliki vrh at first through dwarf pines we cross on the neighbouring hill, there we go downwards right in the direction of Matkov kot and left on a steep ramp (difficult) below the mountain walls. From there among dwarf pines right and downwards past a pine towards the saddle (steep grass), from which it is possible to descent into the valley Logarska dolina or in Matkov kot.
From the saddle, we continue on the ridge (not on the visible hunting path left, which leads to Zabrložnica), on deer paths, we are avoiding the problems to the left. Before the secondary peak of Savinjek at first we avoid the problems on an exposed rocky ledge left and when the ridge becomes too vegetated with dwarf pines, we follow a deer path below the ridge right. Below Savinjek there are two options to access the summit. Ahead on the right side and back to the left on the ridge to the summit or through a steep gully directly to the summit. If the gully is dry, I recommend the latter. From Savinjek it is possible to descent to a hunting cottage in Zabrložnica and ahead in Logarski kot.
From Savinjek we descend on the ridge and we follow a deer path left from the ridge, which leads among dwarf pines on a well visible meadows below the unnamed peak (Rdeči stolp?). From the grassy ridge it is worth to visit this two-headed peak, from which there is a nice view. From the top, we return back on a ridge and we cross below the walls to scree below the window Matkovo okno (here it is again possible to descent to the hunting cottage in Zabrložnica and into Logarski kot or on a footpath right to Okrešelj). On the scree we ascend to a steep grassy ramp, there to the passage left (piton) and below the window Matkovo okno. On steep grass then upwards to the window Matkovo okno.
And here is already time for a rest and a snack, if we didn't already have it on Savinjek. Through the window Matkovo okno we look towards Matkova kopa and enjoy in that romantic environment. If we were fast, we needed 5 hours to here.
To Mrzla gora follows approx 3 more hours of a very demanding ridge (I-II grade).
From the window we continue upwards among dwarf pines and it is best, that we as much as possible stick to the ridge. From the unnamed peak shows the most difficult part with two peaks before the notch Škrbina Hudega praska. We descend right on the ledge and on loose stones left back on the ridge and downwards to the notch. From the notch there is at first a very exposed passage right on a steep wall (left variant ends above the precipices towards Okrešelj) and then a crossing among dwarf pines back on the ridge. When before a smaller notch the ridge becomes impassable, we descend straight downwards left (on the hardest part we descend with the help of a branch of a dwarf pine) and we continue on crumbly ledges right into a gully. When it closes, we go left on a steep jump to dwarf pines. We cross to a crumbly terrain and slightly left downwards to a rocky passage and ahead on graveled ledges in the direction of a larch on the ridge. Before that follows also a steep ascent on a partly grassy, partly rocky terrain. To the larch we finished with the bigger problems, only a steep jump follows before the notch Škrbina Hudega praska, which we can overcome with a descent on a rope.
From the larch we continue on a very crumbly terrain on the ridge. If we want, we can also ascend back on the ridge to the summit, which we bypassed on the left side. Or we continue ahead on the ridge with dwarf pines to a jump before the notch Škrbina Hudega praska. We descend into the notch and we continue on the ridge or we choose an easier variant left below the ridge on a well visible path (from Hudi prask) and on a nicely rugged groove.
On the top of the groove, we continue on more or less well visible path among dwarf pines and rugged crumbly slope, meanwhile we descend into a smaller hollow and on grass we again ascend on the ridge. From the ridge we cross on the scree on a marked path which leads from Matkov kot to the summit of Mrzla gora. We continue the ascent there to the top.

Difficulty
The ridge from the window Matkovo okno ahead is very difficult (I, II grade), there are a lot of steep overgrown passages, loose rocks, crumbly, graveled ledges. Belaying with a rope and an escort of a guide is recommended. The tour is very long and physically very strenuous. Time of walking 8 hours, which I wrote, can also get much longer, or of course also shorter.
Prle already mentioned, that the ridge is adventurous, unspoilt, for those ridge climbers, who are not afraid of crumbliness and they like dwarf pines - in short a ridge for exotic mountaineers.
