Access to starting point:
A) We leave the highway Reka / Rijeka - Zagreb at exit Delnice and we continue on the old road towards Rijeka. Still before the crossroad for Lokve we go left in the direction of the settlement Mrkopalj, in the middle of the mentioned settlement we go right in the direction for Tuk and Matič poljana. Further, we follow the signs for Matič poljana. After the settlement Tuk road becomes a macadam, and we are driving there approximately 16 km, where we follow mountain signposts for Bijele i Samarske stijene, and nearby we also notice signs for Bijele stijene, which point us right. 1 km ahead we park on forest parking lot next to a small cottage.
B) We drive from Ogulin towards Novi Vinodolski, and after the settlement Jasenak after approximately 1 km we turn right in the direction of Bijele i Samarske stijene. After 5 km of additional driving on the macadam road we go left in the direction of Bijele stijene, and after 1 km we park on forest parking lot next to a small cottage.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we follow the signs and we walk on a well-beaten and well-marked mountain path. After few minutes, the path steeply ascends and leads us through pleasant beech forest, but in wet the path is quite slippery.
After approximately half an hour of walking, we get to a crossing, where the path branches off to the right on Velika javornica, and we go left in the direction of Bijele stijene and cottage of Miroslav Hirtz. Here the path gradually flattens, and after approximately 10 to 15 minutes of additional walking, we get to the cottage, which is situated on 1270 meters.
Further, we still follow the signs and only few minutes ahead we get to the cottage Planisnka koča Dragutina Hirtza.
The path ahead becomes demanding and leads us on an interesting terrain of Bijele stijene, where we get help from some iron spikes and steel cables. Such a path in approximately 15 minutes brings us to the summit.
