Planina Blato - Vodnikov Vršac (Vršac nad Zadnjico) (via valley Za Kopico)

Access to starting point:
From Gorenjska highway (exit Lesce), Železniki or Soriška planina, we drive to Bohinjska Bistrica, and then we continue driving in the direction of Lake Bohinj. In Ribčev Laz, just before the lake we turn right towards Stara Fužina, where we at first drive over a bridge with a nice view towards Lake Bohinj and past the church of St. John the Baptist. When we get to Stara Fužina at the crossroad at the chapel, we turn sharply left on an ascending road in the direction of the mountain pasture Blato, mountain pasture Vogar and valley Voje. The road ahead brings us to the spot, where the road toll or parking fee has to be paid, we follow it forward to the next crossroad, where we continue left (right Voje). Then we follow the road to the next crossroad (we drive for quite some time), where we turn sharply right in the direction of the mountain pasture Blato (straight mountain pasture Vogar). We follow this road to a marked parking lot above the mountain pasture Blato.

Path description:
From a marked parking lot we return on the road a little back, and then we go on an ascending cart track in the direction of Planina pri Jezeru, mountain pasture Planina v Lazu and mountain pasture Dedno polje. The path on a cart track at first quite steeply ascends and after approximately 10 minutes brings us to a marked crossing, where we continue on the left upper cart track (straight mountain pasture Planina v Lazu and steep path to the mountain pasture Planina pri Jezeru).
After less than 5 minutes of additional ascent, at the right turn from the left joins the path from the mountain pasture Vogar, and we continue right in the direction of Planina pri Jezeru. Further, we are ascending on a little less steep cart track which for a short time entirely flattens, and then it ascends steeper and leads us through a narrow carved passage. After the narrow part the cart track again flattens, and after two benches from the right joins the already mentioned steep path. After the crossing, the path turns left and it brings us to a grazing fence, behind which we step into a smaller valley, where a cold air is usually retained. The path ahead gradually becomes steeper again, and after it flattens it turns right. A little further from the left joins the path which leads past the mountain pasture Vodični vrh.
From the mentioned crossing ahead, the forest starts to get thinner, and when we finally step out of the forest, we are already on the mountain pasture Planina pri Jezeru, where to the nearby mountain hut we have only few 10 strides of easy walking.
From the mountain hut, we continue slightly left and at first downwards to a marked crossing, from which we go on the right path in the direction of the mountain pasture Dedno polje (left - mountain pasture Viševnik and Pršivec). Still a wide path is at first gently, and then moderately to steeply ascending through a thin spruce forest. Higher, the path over Krištofojca branches off to the left, which leads towards the mountain pasture Viševnik, and we still continue on a wide path, which higher flattens a little and then turns slightly to the right, where in front of us we notice mountain pasture Dedno polje. Here the path turns to the left and after few additional strides, it brings us to the mountain pasture Dedno polje, by the edge of which there is a marked crossing.
Here we leave a wide path which leads towards the mountain hut Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih. We continue right (direction saddle Vratca, Hribarice and Prehodavci) at first slightly downwards past the shepherd huts on the mentioned mountain pasture. On the other side of the mountain pasture the path again starts ascending and it brings us to a less noticeable crossing, where the path towards the mountain pasture Planina v Lazu branches off to the right. We continue straight upwards on the path which gradually starts ascending steeper. The path which leads us past a watering-place for animals (watering place is dry) is ascending mostly through a conifer forest (larches and spruces). After approximately half an hour of walking from the mountain pasture Dedno polje the terrain flattens and a nice view opens up on peaks which surround the initial part of the valley Za Kopico. The path ahead is ascending on the southern slopes of Slatna and Prvi Vogel, and then gradually passes into the main part of the valley Za Kopico. We then follow this valley all the way to a saddle Vrata, where from the left joins the path from the saddle Štapce (ridge of Tičarica, Kopica and Zelnarica). We continue here ahead at first a little downwards, we cross slopes of Vršaki, where we cross wide but slightly exposed short ledge (undemanding) and then we come to a crossing, where joins the path from Hribarice. We continue left downwards on the path which after a short descent brings us to a crossing, where we continue right in the direction of Prehodavci (crossing near the lake Zeleno jezero). The path ahead brings us to the lake Rjavo jezero and behind it starts ascending towards the mountain hut Zasavska koča, which is situated on a panoramic hill.
From the mountain hut, we continue towards the northeast and at first, we descend a little. The path then brings us to a crossing where right leads the path to a drinking water.
Here the path again starts ascending and crosses slopes above the lake Jezero pod Vršacem. The path then ascends a little steeper and brings us on the saddle between Kanjavec and Vodnikov Vršac.
From the saddle, we continue few ten meters on a marked path which starts descending. We then leave the marked path and go left on pathless terrain. Here we walk on undemanding grassy slope, at orientation we also get help from few cairns. After a short ascent, we come on slopes on the south side of the peak and follows an ascent on a panoramic slope to the top.
