Stara Fužina - Triglav (via Planika and Mali Triglav)

Access to starting point:
From highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Lesce and follow the road towards Bled and forward towards Bohinjska Bistrica. We continue driving towards the Lake Bohinj (Ribčev laz), where we come to the crossroad, where we continue right in the direction of Stara Fužina. In Stara Fužina at the crossroad at the chapel, we turn sharply left on an ascending road in the direction of the mountain pasture Blato, mountain pasture Vogar and valley Voje. We follow this road to a parking lot, where a road toll or a parking fee has to be paid.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue right in the direction of gorge Korita Mostnice on a wide path, on which in few minutes we get to Hudičev most (devil's bridge), from which we can already get a first look into the gorge. At the bridge, we step on a rough road which we follow to the left, and there we walk only for a short time because then signs for gorge point us to the right on a well-settled tourist path. The path ahead soon brings us to the main part of the gorge, by which we are then gently ascending. During the ascent by the gorge, we run into signs "Slonček" (a rock, which is carved by water in the shape of an elephant - worth seeing). The path ahead is for some time ascending by Mostnica, and then turns a little towards the left, where after few minutes of additional walking brings us to a forest road which leads towards the gable of the valley Voje. We follow the road to the right, and it quickly brings us to the mountain hut Koča na Vojah (to here we can also come with a car, this shortens the path for approximately 45 minutes).
From the mountain hut, we continue on a gently sloping macadam road which then leads us by the edge of extensive pastures of valley Voje. A little further, the road splits into two parts, and we can continue both on left (direction Velo polje) and on few minutes longer right road which by the gable of a valley brings us to the waterfall Mostnice.
If we visited the waterfall, we return few meters back, and then over a small bridge, we join "left" a little shorter path. The path ahead passes into a dense forest, where at first it ascends above the waterfall, and then gradually turns to the left, where it is ascending on relatively steep slopes. After approximately one hour ascent through the forest, the path turns to the right and then after few minutes of a diagonal ascent brings us out of the forest on the mountain pasture Spodnja Grintovica, where there is a trough with water (because of possible frost we can open a tap only in the summer months).
The path ahead returns into the forest, where it again starts ascending steeper. A considerably monotonous path then brings us into a small indistinct valley (sinkhole Jurjevčeva vrtača), where it gradually flattens. Ahead forest becomes little thinner and the path turns slightly towards the right, where then after few minutes of additional walking, we get to a poorly marked crossing. We continue on the right path (left mountain pasture Planina pot Mišelj vrhom, Malo polje and Velo polje), which again starts considerably ascending. The path ahead is ascending by an indistinct ridge of less known peak Na Zagonu (1824 meters), and then it flattens and in few steps of additional walking brings us to the spot, where we join the significantly better beaten path from Pokljuka.
We continue in the direction of the mountain hut Vodnikov dom and we continue the ascent on a gently sloping path, which crosses slopes of Tosc. The path ahead crosses also some smaller scree (in the early summer are here still possible snow fields), then quickly brings us to the mountain hut Vodnikov dom na Velem polju.
From the hut, we continue straight in the direction of Triglav (right upward Bohinjska vratca). The path ahead is moderately ascending and crosses slopes below Vernar. Soon we run into the first steel cable, which helps us to get over a short ledge. The path ahead is ascending on the scree and then brings us to a steep rocky jump. A well-secured path on steep stairs brings us to the top of that jump. Next follows few meters of crossing on a steep slope, and then the path brings us on ample slopes near the saddle Konjsko sedlo, which we reach after a short descent.
From the saddle, we continue left in the direction of Planika (straight Kredarica and Staničev dom, right Krma) on a relatively steep path, which is ascending diagonally towards the west. Higher, an increasingly scenic path brings us on an indistinct ridge, where it turns to the right and for some time flattens a little. Ahead marked path on the right side bypasses a larger sinkhole, and then it starts turning towards the left. Next follows approximately 10 minutes of ascent and the path brings us to the mountain hut Dom Planika below Triglav.
From Planika we continue on the right side of the mountain hut on a marked path in the direction of Triglav (left Triglav over Triglavska škrbina, right Kredarica). The path ahead at first slightly descends, and then it starts gradually ascending. After few minutes of easy walking, we get to a short rocky part, where we diagonally ascend on a slightly exposed ledge. The path ahead turns a little to the right and from rocky cliffs passes into gravel terrain, over which we ascend to the entrance into a climbing part.
Already from the far visible trail blaze points us into a distinct gully, through which with the help of steel cables we ascend on a nice vantage point. The path ahead turns left, at first steeply ascends, and then continues on rugged rocks. Occasionally very steep and on all harder spots also well-secured path, higher brings us on the ridge of Mali Triglav, where from the right a little harder path joins from Kredarica.
We continue straight on a ridge path, and in few 10 strides of additional walking brings us to the summit of Mali Triglav. From Mali Triglav, from where a nice view opens up to the summit and on a larger part of the path which is in front of us, the path slightly descends, and then it brings us on an indistinct saddle between the both peaks. The path ahead again starts ascending, on a well-secured ridge path. This very panoramic and on some parts also very steep path, we then follow all the way to the top of Triglav.
