Access to starting point:
From the coastal highway, from Koper we drive towards Izola and ahead on the main road towards Portorož. After the stone pine avenue, where there grow 110 stone pines (Pinus pinea), at the roundabout we turn right towards Strunjan. Through Strunjan we drive to a large payable parking lot, which is situated near the beach.
Path description:
The described path officially starts in the center of Strunjan Landscape park at Strunjan Saltworks, and below is described the path from the parking lot Strunjan, because to saltworks house it isn't possible to go with a car.
From the parking lot, we continue right towards Hotel Svoboda, and at the crossings we follow the blazes of European long distance path. Behind the hotel we leave the asphalt and we continue slightly left, on the path which gradually passes into the forest. The path ahead leads us above the upper edge of cliff Strunjanski klif, so that occasionally a nice view opens up towards the sea and coast. Next follows few minutes of a steeper ascent, and then the path flattens and in few minutes of additional walking, we get to the cross Strunjanski križ, from which a nice view opens up.
From the cross we continue straight, still on the path which leads us above the cliff and where occasionally a nice view opens up towards the sea and bay Mesečev zaliv. A little further, we reach an asphalt road, on which we ascend a little and then the asphalt ends and we get to learning board number 10, where the path at first changes into a cart track, and a little higher also into a footpath. Next follows crossing of a lane of a forest and then we get to a panoramic meadow, from which a nice view opens up, which reaches all the way to the Alps.
A little further, we reach an asphalt road, and we continue straight (left - Jagodje) and we leave European footpath.
Further by the path, we aren't accompanied by blazes of European footpath anymore, and at the crossings we follow the signs of the learning trail. Next follows a walk on a narrower asphalt road which at first continues without large descents, and when it starts considerably descending we get to a nice viewpoint at the sign number 13. A little lower we get to Strunjan, and we descend to a wider asphalt road which we carefully cross and then we continue right, where we continue walking on a sidewalk. From the sidewalk we soon go left, on a footpath which continues by Stjuža, and a little further also by Strunjan Saltworks, where we reach saltworks house, where there is the center of Strunjan Landscape park.
Behind the houses, we go right and over a bridge we ascend over the canal, which connects Stjuža with the sea. Next follows few minutes of walking by the coast and we get to the parking lot, where we started the circular path.
