Tremerje - Dom na Šmohorju (on ridge of Mali Slomnik)

Access to starting point:
Tremerje is a settlement between Celje and Laško. From the direction Celje on the way to Laško before the inn Hochkraut at the crossroad we turn right towards Tremerje. In the opposite direction of the turn at the crossroad there is a bridge over Savinja, where on the other side of Savinja there is the central treatment plant Celje, financed by EU funds, which is shown on the sign. From the direction Laško at that crossroad we turn left. Immediately after the turn there is a settlement marked with the sign "Tremerje". We continue on the main road into the left turn, and then straight through the settlement approx 1 km towards the south, until we get to a large parking lot on the left side just by the railway. Near the parking lot on the opposite side of the road there is a sign for path Žerdonerjeva planinska pot on "Veliki Slomnik". Even otherwise, continuing further with a car no longer makes sense, because approx 300 meters ahead the flat part of the road ends, but in the past there was the underpass Tremerje, which was several times flooded.

Path description:
From the parking spot, we go on the asphalt road forward towards the south in the direction of Laško approx 300 meters, all the way to the former underpass Tremerje, which was years ago causing problems mainly because of frequent floods and too narrow passage. Before the underpass and before the last homestead, at the crossroad we leave the asphalt road and we turn right upwards towards the west on forest macadam road on an unmarked path. The road is about 100 meters winding in the gorge between the stream Malški graben on the left and homesteads on the left and right. At the last homestead, we leave the macadam road and in the same direction we continue upwards on a cart track into the forest. At first, we go quite soon to the right, where a view opens up on Savinja, and then we go back to the left in the direction of west, where we slowly pass on a quite gentle ridge of Mali Slomnik. All the time we follow well hardened cart track in a pleasant forest, after about a good kilometer, little further from the power line, past the indistinct peak of Mali Slomnik, then another good 500 meters on the ridge, until we get to the crossing of paths, where from the left side joins the marked path from the same starting point in Tremerje, which runs mainly on the road.
From here further we continue on all the time marked path towards the mountain hut Dom na Šmohorju. First on a forest path, partly also a cart track which we now follow steeper upwards. After few minutes, we come to a crossroad, where we turn sharply to the left upwards and we join the macadam road which is coming from the right from Liboje and runs below the wall "Libojska stena" of Veliki Slomnik. We follow the macadam road upwards. The macadam road is pleasantly ascending to the abandoned homestead, where we turn through the yard quite sharply right upwards and below another homestead and by the holiday cottage, where we step on a plain to the crossroad.
In accordance with the signs for "Šmohor" we continue sharply left upwards into the forest. We follow a pleasant mountain path, which in this part is very well marked, the path is diverse and not very strenuous. Further there is a short section through a grassy plain. After a short section through the forest, on the flat part of the path, joins also the other path from Liboje - from Podkoritnik. Few more strides and we step out of the forest. Before the macadam road which otherwise to the left leads to Malič, we go right a little downwards on a meadow in the direction of west. Then we go by the building which is under construction on the path, where a view opens up on Savinja side, then few more meters to a crossing of several paths and roads, a little more upwards through the forest and we reach the destination – mountain hut Dom na Šmohorju.
