You two made good use of the sunny day. The wire ropes are really in poor condition, but to me that mini ridge doesn't seem like a special pearl either. To Storžek's praise I add that the view from the top is divine.

Today Storžek obviously attracted us all. The fixed ropes are really in terrible condition. Too bad, the summit and the trip are great. Next time probably me too up the ridge...and down.

Did you have space shortage at the top?

Not really, we lined up nicely,...some up, others down... Or maybe just I had such luck, when going up I met 5 going down, summit was just mine .

Did you see what conditions are like from Savinja side? So no winter gear needed for Storžek?

It's good if you have an ice axe with you...especially in the morning...from Jezersko saddle along the ridge it's dry...to the secured path from both directions there's still snow, further up the secured path there are about three patches in between, one right at the top.

Thanks. I'll take winter gear if I go.

What do you think, could one go to Velika Baba from Ledin via Rudijeva vertikala with an ice axe (probably snow on the notch between Baba and Ledinski vrh), descend towards Jenkova planina?

Climbing part is dry, to the climbing part from Ledin there are about three snow patches, in the morning a bit hard...then the snow is south-facing, before the summit there was also one patch which today has almost melted...yeah ice axe is good to have anyway, otherwise no problem...towards Jenkova planina three weeks ago it was very unpleasant despite winter gear now I think snow has melted...most annoying is after Zrelu to Ledin.

Next week I'll go to Storžek. So I have questions: Is the turn-off for Storžek well marked? How long is it from the turn-off for Mrzla gora to Savinjsko sedlo and then to the start of the climbing path to Storžek? Is it possible to do Ledinski vrh together with Storžek?

First I'll answer the questions: The turn-off to Storžek is marked with the sign Klettersteig on the boulder, it's somewhat faded but visible. Turn-off Mrzla gora - Savinjsko sedlo, I think without snow 15-20 minutes. Storžek and Ledinski vrh can be done in one ascent. Conditions are such that Storžek from Logarska is unreachable. First snowfield at the end of Okrešelj, no problem. Then Mrzli dol is fully in snow, but doable. After Savinjsko sedlo (ascent to it from Mrzli dol is snow-free) there's again some snow on descent to the junction where we leave the path to Vellach and head to Storžek. Problem is the nasty snowfield at the entrance to the climbing section. I think neither ice axe helps here (snow too hard, I couldn't break it or make steps with ski poles) nor crampons (snowfield almost vertical. Can't bypass from above - problem is two meters to first peg no more foot hold - snow too far from rock and gap too big. Tried climbing above alone but rocks smooth. Finally quit. So probably possible to summit via Ledinski vrh. Other peaks: Mrzli Vrh accessible, Mrzla gora seems snow-free... Scramble to Rinka in snow as well as Turski žleb...

A few minutes past 5 am, sitting in the car at Ravenska kočna parking. No one around, dark outside, cloudy with fog and light rain (despite good forecast), anyway conditions not appealing, but I always remember that mountains always amaze me if I don't turn back. Still, I trust the weather forecast and head towards Slovenska pot to Ledine. Just before entering the secured path, still among the scree, rain intensified so I waited a good ten minutes among (under) scree. Rain luckily didn't last long, so with full drive I start towards Slovenska pot. At the junction for Slovenska pot and path over Žrelo, there's a sign that path over Žrelo is officially still closed. Slovenska pot, in my opinion, is good, marked and exposed, so no issues. Personally I like the path a lot, ends too soon for me. At Kranjska koča on Ledine I drink coffee and chat some (longer ) words with new warden who was at Kališče last year. From Kranjska koča continue towards Jezersko sedlo. Halfway to sedlo, had to dress more winterly, temp just few degrees plus cold wind blowing. So even in summer need warm clothes, gloves and hat always in backpack. Path to sedlo otherwise unremarkable, except great views on surrounding mountains. From Jezersko sedlo descend towards Savinjsko sedlo, just before it turn left to Storžek. Secured path to Storžek starts with "interesting" cable. Needs some thoughtful maneuvering, but shouldn't trouble someone who's grabbed a "loop" before. Further to summit path good, but as any via ferrata needs concentration and right decisions. Using self-belay set is right choice on some sections, especially if going alone. At Storžek summit great views far around, weather really idyllic and as I wrote at start, mountains always amaze and reward if don't quit unnecessarily. Descended same path to Ledine, there chose hunting path for descent. All paths good and well marked (maybe red dots less visible under Storžek). Whole tour minus chatting over two coffees at Ledine took under 5 hours walking. No snow anywhere on path. Condensed video recordings of secured paths: Slovenska pot Secured path to Storžek

Storžek 12.7.2020 After a rainy night into a fresh day. Good conditions for hiking, rock dry, except on slippery traverse some wet, just enough to slip well on descent. Regards

I've had it planned for a long time, yesterday the day finally came... I thought my legs would resist after Saturday's Planjava, but they grabbed even more eagerly. I park at the (new to me) parking in Ravenska Kočna and head along the soft hunting trail to Ledine. Really nice path, with three hundred steps, the sun appears only a minute before the hut. I drink tea, hang my shirt and continue in the shade along Rudie's vertical. No one anywhere, only just below the summit of Velika Baba I overtake two hikers who approached via the classic path. I linger long on the top, as I only plan to visit two little bumps that don't exceed 40m relative height I descend to the saddle under Baba 1989 and slightly drop to the Austrian side, then via scree reach the col between Storžek and Ledinski vrh. First I climb the first one, since I haven't been there yet. Along the ridge it's a nice grade two in fairly solid rock, time-wise it takes about 6 minutes. I don't get why the Austrians put a cross on its shoulder, as far as I know the summit is entirely on their territory. Again I indulge in photography, ascend also to the nearby Ledinski vrh, for Mrzli vrh I didn't feel like it, since I've been there already. To the hut I descend along a comfortable trail, where I refill water and slowly stroll to the valley. I cool off to my neck in Planšarsko Lake. This is after Triglavska Bistrica and the pool in Repov kot already the third cooling method after descending from the hills in the last ten days.

Nice tour! Storžek still awaits me. I always look at it when I go to Ledinski vrh. Years ago I got blisters when I hauled myself up those cables to Baba. The year before last I went to Mrzli vrh only halfway. The ascent seemed a bit too dangerous to me. To Mrzla gora we went from there further years ago in a small group. It was adrenaline-fueled - I never repeated the ascent. To Ledine I always go via Slovenska and then Lovska dol. A few years ago I always went to Ledine via Češka koča and then to Žrelo. Since they closed the path over Žrelo I go directly to Ledine always up Slovenska. Sadly nature does its thing. It didn't help that they moved the cables on Žrelo to the left side. Still winter did its work.
