From Tolminske Ravne to pl. Na Kalu, then in beautiful sunny weather with magnificent views of Tolmin Migovec, Tolmin Kuk, Green Peak. The view from Green Peak towards Podrta gora and Peak above Škrbina did not promise any more such conditions, but the wind still constantly played with the fog and allowed ascent up the secured path to Peak above Škrbina and descent below the famous climbing area Škrbinska Plošča back to the start. The path is normally passable; under Podrta gora, you still need to cross two short snowfields for now.

Yesterday a sunny day on the coast. The path is normally passable without winter gear. Some snow patches and some dry snow on the north side from Škrbina and towards Globoki. nasmeh

Yesterday I hiked the loop: Tolminske Ravne, over Tolminski Migovec to Tolminski Kuk, continued over the other two-thousanders to Peak above Škrbina and descent back to the start. This loop attracted quite a few hikers yesterday. Even just to T. Kuk and Peak above Škrbina there were noticeable visits. The day was really unique and two more such days are forecast. It is worth the effort to take advantage of them.
The path itself is without peculiarities.

The road to Tolminske Ravne is drivable; they are repairing it below the bends. Conditions for hikers were excellent, above the forest line I mostly walked along the ridge, higher up only the crampon tips gripped. A bit windy, not cold.

Green Peak. 1.3. From Tolminske Ravne. We went via the shorter steep path. Under the slab above Peak above Škrbina. In the snow, but the path to Tolminski Kuk was not known to us. Only in summer. We had tracks of skiers and hikers where the wind had not covered them. All the way to the top. The day was nice. Cool. Also windy. The snow was fine for walking. It did not sink much. Only where it was blown in. We met almost no one. On the descent, the sun was nicely warming.

Tolminski Migovec looks different from this side.

This year we're used to turning back too. You're really happy when you can reach the summit. Conditions are different every day. We had luck thanks to Alenka and David, because ski tracks and hiker footprints were visible.

28.12.2022. We went on the path from Tolminske Raven like in March this year. But there were no tracks further from the junction. Navigation was very handy. The weather forecast was better than what we had. The morning still somehow showed nice weather. But when we got to the last part below the summit, it started closing in. The fog was so thick that we couldn't see a meter ahead. At 1954 m we decided there was no sense in continuing. Although the summit was close. But there would be no views. And we turned back. On the descent it opened a bit and closed again. The snow was OK for walking. It didn't sink too much. Now it is a well-known winter path for us.

It is getting cold in the last 100 m below the summit.

We stow the ice axe. Crampons on for a while longer.

10.01.2023. As we had arranged, we repeated the route to Zeleni vrh this year. Although after the snowfall we didn't know how it would look. Anyway, the path is important, not the goal. When you set out, you know it's for the path. It was a beautiful day. As if the sky wanted to atone for the grayness of last December when we turned back below the summit. The weathermen had forecasted wind. There was already quite a lot of snow from the signpost onwards. And decorated trees and bushes along the path. Trail breaking went well for us. Further on, conditions were mixed. Due to the wind, the snow under the summit was frozen. Views were beautiful throughout. The snow sank where it was windblown. We descended the ascent route. The only hikers that day.

That's how it was yesterday. We went to see how much snow there was. We knew it would sink. The sun peeked out just for a moment and hid. At 1600 m visibility was so bad that we couldn't see ahead. We decided not to go further. Then it started snowing too. Real winter idyll. And nice, even though there was no sun.

On Sunday standard circular tour from Raven over Planina Kal to Migovec, Kuk and over Škrbina to Razor plateau and back down. As always nice tour, met only three hikers, hut closed.
