Yesterday went along Via della Vita to Visoka Ponca and down to the lakes. It added up to 17 km and 1847 m ascent, in 12 hours. Others have described everything. I'd just warn that towards Vevniška škrbina there are now patches of hard snow and ice. North side after all. Winter gear essential.
Start of Via della Vita.1
Power of nature.2
Above the chain.3
The markers from Vevnica to Visoka Ponca were recently renewed. They are still quite modest in places.4
Steep northern side of Ponc. Mangart to the right.5
Jalovec in the middle at the back, Mangart to the right, Srednja Ponca in the front middle.6

Vevnica on the left, Mangart on the right, on the saddle between them the outline of bivouac Alberto Busettini.8

It really is beautiful. I can add my hope that the fixed protections and markings along the ridge won't be improved. That would take away quite a bit of the route's charm. Where they are really needed, they are good.

I'm wondering if there's any issue at the entry to the wall? Last time, I think 2 years ago, the snowfield right at the start of the protected route required quite some climbing skills and gear (ice axe, crampons, rope).

Initial part is well done with pegs, sometimes there were none and it was good II, without that peg I'd say straight III
Good luck

From end of della Vita on path to Vevnica there's a somewhat trickier snowfield, bypassed below and left of the rock on its left side. Climbing up to I+. For anyone going on to Ponce, this detour is a breeze! mežikanje According to info from two who came from there, ridge is snow-free.

Also snow-free is Rob path above zagače - Tamar, though about marking of this path from bivouac to where it becomes obvious and climbs to Kotovo Sedlo, I'd rather not! zavijanje z očmi

What's this now? Redbull recommends winter gear, VanSims says no need to carry it???

@redbull meant the entry into della Vita, I was talking about the snowfield on the path from the end of della Vita to the Vevnica summit, which in my opinion is too steep for winter gear, but it can be bypassed as I wrote.

The Vevnica - Ponce ridge should be snow-free according to information from two hikers I met at Vevnica.

The ridge is logically snow-free. The topic as you see above says Via D.Vita. That's completely something else than the ridge from Ponc via Strug to Vevnica. From Ponc to Mangart it's a dry path.

Does anyone have info on the size of the snowfield under Via della Vita? Winter gear mandatory for safe passage? Based on last year's conditions, I think I know the answer, but still asking if anyone has been there. nasmeh
What's the condition of the Ponc ridge path after this winter?

No need, you are there and know that the snowfield is quite substantial. From the Belopeška Lakes I saw a photo a week ago right in that direction. There was a solid snowfield. The ridge should be OK, except between Vevnica and Bivak Busettini it's hard to say that it doesn't go without snow, in that shady section.
Good luck.

No snow on the entire traverse. Was there yesterday. Had ice axe, didn't need it. Below Rob nad Zagačami big snowfield, but entry to Vita is clear, as is access there. At the fork below it says Vita is impassable, but I don't get why. In the upper part there's one step broken out in the vertical (watch out), one cable damaged in non-problematic section, nothing else noticed.

Via della Vita: we put up the sign that it's impassable because the mountain guides team plans to renovate it completely as it doesn't meet new EN 2017 standards, probably they'll proceed with renovation of the second ferrata part in autumn so for safety it's officially closed as "via ferrata" but at personal responsibility you can go through like a climbing route/ via alpinistica (meaning also that in case of accident rescuers will bill for possible rescue action), PD CAI Tarvisio.

@alessio
From that point of view I understand.
The lower part to the gully is excellently renovated, full marks.

Others have described it all. The ferrata itself is really nicely fixed up, but the continuation to Strug, nicely said "in poor condition". Clear why it's closed. No joke eek

For the whole tour Belopeška jezera-V Koncu špica-Vevnica-Strug-Zadnja Ponca-Srednja Ponca-Visoka Ponca-Belopeška jezera, we needed almost 11 hours.

First day to Bivak Alberto Busettini via Via della Vita, ferrata well protected in initial part with new cables and pegs. Around 2/3 way protections older but most still good. At bivak I wait end of day with view of last sun rays lighting surrounding peaks. Overnight in bivak then second day to Vevnica. Path to Vevnica nothing special, new protections at key spots again. Continue to Strug, in my opinion hardest part descent from Vevnica as protections there in worse shape. Loose scree not lacking on path. Ascent to Strug without major issues with some short climbing sections. From Strug on path often marked with red dots and well traceable. Quickly reach Zadnja Ponca. Then after short break continue to Srednja and Visoka Ponca. At top of Visoka Ponca chat a bit with other hikers, then descend via ferrata. At Rifugio Zacchi after 7h walk well-deserved beer nasmeh Great tour that requires focus and good fitness from mountaineer. I needed just under 12h walking in two days with all breaks.
