Access to starting point:
From the valley Savinjska dolina or from Kamnik through mountain pass Črnivec, we drive to Gornji Grad, where on a settled parking lot by the main bus stop we also park.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue by the main road towards the valley Savinjska dolina. After few 10 meters we come to a smaller crossroad, where signs for mountain hut Dom na Menini planini point us to the right on street Prod. Immediately after the first house we continue right (turn-off is marked, straight Menina planina past Semprimožnik), we walk behind the houses, and then we come on neighbouring street. We continue left and after few steps, we notice old mountain signpost, which points us left on a relatively steep cart track. Cart track quickly passes into the forest, where changes into a footpath. The path soon brings us on an indistinct ridge, on and by which we are then ascending to a forest road.
After approximately half an hour of walking from the starting point, we step on the before mentioned road and we follow it to the left, and we walk there only few 10 meters and then signs point us to the left on a footpath which gradually starts ascending steeper and steeper through the forest. The path which higher becomes even steeper, soon brings us to an unmarked crossing, where the unmarked path branches off to the left, which after a short descent ends on the road which leads on Menina planina, and we go straight and we still follow a steep path. Higher, the path flattens, twice crosses a road and then joins a better beaten path from Semprimožnik.
We continue moderate ascent through the forest and the path quickly brings us on Prag 1170 meters, from which follows barely noticeable descent to "kopalnica" (bathroom). The path which again starts ascending, quickly brings us to the next marked crossing, where we have two options to continue. We continue slightly left in the direction of Menina planina over Ovčji stan (right Menina planina over Jespa, the latter is 15 minutes longer, option for circular path). The path ahead is for some time still ascending through the forest, after that immediately after we cross a grazing fence we step out of the forest on the more and more panoramic grassy slopes. Mentioned grassy slopes we walk in a diagonal ascent, and then we join the forest road which we then follow to the mountain hut Dom na Menini planini.
On the way: Prag (1170m)
