Hunting cottage Vojkovo - Suhi vrh (Nanos) (steep path)

Access to starting point:
A) From highway Ljubljana - Koper we go to the exit Razdrto and we continue driving on the old road through Razdrto towards Vipava valley. After few km of descent on a quite winding road, we will get to a crossroad, where a road towards Nanos branches off to the right. We go on the mentioned road which starts ascending steeper and higher, when the road already flattens brings us to the smaller crossroad, where a macadam road branches off to the right, which leads to the near hunting cottage. We continue in the direction of the hunting cottage and we park there on a macadam parking lot.
B) From highway Nova Gorica - Ljubljana we go to the exit Vipava and we follow the road ahead towards Podnanos. From Podnanos we continue driving on the old road towards Razdrto. Soon, we come to a crossroad, where the road towards Nanos branches off sharply to the left. We go on the mentioned road which starts ascending steeper and higher, when the road already flattens brings us to the smaller crossroad, where a macadam road branches off to the right, which leads to the near hunting cottage. We continue in the direction of the hunting cottage and we park there on a macadam parking lot.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we at first walk to the hunting cottage, and then we continue in the direction of St. Hieronim and mountain hut Vojkova koča na Nanosu. The path goes already after few steps in the forest, where starts slightly ascending. After a short ascent, the path brings us on an indistinct peak Strmec, from which follows a short descent. Only a little further, the path brings us out of the forest on grassy slopes, which are occasionally covered with bushes and individual pine trees. Easy and barely ascending path, then for a short time joins the road, but already after few steps leaves it. The path then avoids the road a little more to the right and starts moderately ascending on the more and more panoramic slopes of Nanos. Here from the right joins an unmarked path, which a little lower branched off to the right. The path ahead becomes slightly steeper and after few minutes of additional walking brings us to already from the far visible church of St. Hieronima.
From the church, we continue slightly right on the path which only a little higher from the right joins the gentle path from Razdrto. We continue in the direction of the mountain hut Vojkova koča on the path which only few steps ahead brings us on a less noticeable crossing, where the unmarked path on Grmada branches off to the left. We continue slightly right on a marked path, which is ahead for quite some time ascending parallel with the road. The path ahead from the road goes away slightly more to the right and passes on panoramic northwestern edge of Nanos. Here from the right side almost unnoticeably joins so-called path Janezova pot, and we continue straight on a wide footpath which leads us towards the transmitters on Nanos. Only a little before transmitters path turns to the left, descends into a lane of a forest and then past the monument of Janko Premrl Vojko, brings us to the mountain hut Vojkova koča on Nanos.
From the mountain hut, we continue on a marked path in the direction of Suhi vrh. The path at first crosses a meadow behind the mountain hut, and then it ascends for a short time. Next follows some of walking with shorter descents and ascents to a panoramic grassy slope. The path then returns into the forest and it starts descending steeper. After few minutes of descent, we come to a marked crossing, where we continue left in the direction of Suhi vrh (straight downwards Strane). After few minutes of additional walking, we step on the forest road, and it soon brings us to the hunting cottage.
For some time we continue the ascent on the forest road, and then signs for Suhi vrh - steep path (strma pot) point us to the right downwards (straight on the road gentle path). The path ahead at first steeply descends to the bottom of a hollow, then starts steeply ascending through the forest. After few minutes of a steep ascent, the path brings us to the emergency bivouac (old military tunnel) after which the path slightly flattens. Only a short ascent follows and the path brings us on panoramic Suhi vrh.
