Koča na Šumiku - Dom na Osankarici (via pohorski bataljon)

Access to starting point:
From Maribor or Dravograd we drive to Selnica ob Dravi, from where we continue driving towards the village Ruše. In Ruše we continue right and then left in the direction of Smolnik. An ascending road soon brings us to the mentioned village and only a few kilometers ahead to a crossroad, where we continue right (left Šumik waterfall). After additional 100 meters of driving, we come to the crossroad at the mountain hut Koča na Šumiku. Here we park on a parking lot near the crossroad.

Route description:
From the mountain hut Koča na Šumiku we go on a footpath in the direction of Osankarica, which after a short ascent through the forest brings us on the road which we follow to the left. After approximately 20 minutes of walking on the road, we come to a crossing of paths, where signs for the Pohorski battalion camp point us to the left over a bridge. The road then changes into a cart track which starts ascending steeper. The path which ahead runs through the forest occasionally vanishes among fallen branches, but if we carefully follow blazes there aren't any problems with orientation. After a good hour we come out of the forest on a larger clearing, where we notice a forestry cottage Obrolovo.
The path which then goes again into the forest soon brings us to a forest road which we follow to the left. The road on which we walk additional 10 minutes we leave at the spot, where blazes point us to the right by the stream upwards. The path which then for a short time ascends quickly brings us to the Pohorski battalion camp. The path ahead starts slightly descending and after additional 20 minutes brings us to the mountain hut Dom na Osankarici.
