Access to starting point:
A) From Ljubljana, we drive on Gorenjska highway towards Jesenice, and we follow it to exit Ljubelj (Podnart). Further, we drive on the road towards Ljubelj and at the first turn we turn right, where we then quickly get to a roundabout, from which we continue in the direction of Podnart and Kropa. The road then leads us through the underpass below the highway and a little further brings us to a crossroad, where the road from Naklo joins. Here we continue right, and we continue on the road which starts gradually descending. In the middle of the descent, we come on a crossroad, where we continue sharply left (direction Kropa) and then immediately behind the bridge through the river Sava again left (right Podnart). Further, we drive by the river Lipnica and we follow the road to a crossroad, where a road towards Kamna Gorica branches off to the right. Here we continue left towards Kropa and we follow the road through the mentioned settlement. Only few meters before the house with house number 7, we will on the left side notice a sports field and below it a parking lot, where we park.
B) From Gorenjska we leave the highway towards Ljubljana at exit Brezje and then we follow the signs towards Kropa. We park on a parking lot by the sports field in Kropa.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we walk to a house with house number 7 and here we continue left on at first still asphalt road. The road quickly becomes a macadam and there we ascend to a church of Kroparska Mati Božja.
From the church, we continue on a cart track which is ascending diagonally towards the left over a relatively steep slope. Higher, we step on the forest ridge, where we continue sharply right in the direction of Jamnik (left Brezovica, straight Češnjica). We still continue on a cart track which is then ascending on a relatively gentle ridge.
We continue towards Jamnik, and the path leads us on a forested ridge and after a short ascent, we reach an indistinct peak of Berigla. Higher, the path from the ridge gradually passes on a slope and splits.
The path branches off to the left towards Jamnik, and we go left few steps ahead at the marked crossing, from which we continue on a steep path in the direction of the mountain pasture Vodiška planina. Next follows few minutes of a steep ascent, and then we cross an asphalt road.
On the other side of the road, we continue on a marked cart track, and from there we soon go right on a footpath which after few minutes returns on a cart track. Next follows a relatively short ascent on a cart track, where we make few hairpin turns, and then the cart track narrows into a mountain path. During the further ascent for some time a view opens up a little towards Jamnik, and after a smaller religious symbol, the footpath widens into a cart track, and it brings us to a crossing, where from the left the path from Jamnik joins.
We follow the signs for Vodice, and we quickly get to a crossing, where the path branches off to the left to Tehnika Meta, and we continue right towards Vodice.
Further, we walk on a gentle path which leads us on a plateau terrain of forested Jelovica.
From the old cart track eventually signs for Vodice point us to the right on an easy to follow footpath which gradually ascends on the ridge of Zidana skala. We some time walk by the ridge and then we get to the vantage point Zidana skala, from which a nice view opens up on Karawanks and Kamnik Savinja Alps.
From the vantage point, the path returns into the forest and then it is ascending by the edge of very steep and mainly in wet for slipping dangerous slopes. The path ahead is for few minutes ascending, and then turns slightly to the right and starts relatively steeply descending. During the descent, we still walk by the edge of steep slopes, which are dangerous for slipping, about this we also get warned by a memorial plaque of a mountaineer. The path then gradually flattens and it brings us to NOB monument, where we join a wider cart track.
Here we go right and we continue on a cart track which after few minutes starts descending steeply towards the mountain pasture Vodiška planina. After a short descent, the path flattens and brings us on the mentioned mountain pasture, in the middle of which stands Partisan cottage.
