Access to starting point:
A) From Ljubljana, we drive on Gorenjska highway towards Jesenice, and we follow it to exit Ljubelj (Podnart). Further, we drive on the road towards Ljubelj and at the first turn we turn right, where we then quickly get to a roundabout, from which we continue in the direction of Podnart and Kropa. The road then leads us through the underpass below the highway and a little further brings us to a crossroad, where the road from Naklo joins. Here we continue right, and we continue on the road which starts gradually descending. In the middle of the descent, we come on a crossroad, where we continue sharply left (direction Kropa) and then immediately behind the bridge through the river Sava again left (right Podnart). Further, we drive by the river Lipnica and we follow the road to a crossroad, where a road towards Kamna Gorica branches off to the right. Here we continue left towards Kropa and we follow the road through the mentioned settlement. Only few meters before the house with house number 7, we will on the left side notice a sports field and below it a parking lot, where we park.
B) From Gorenjska we leave the highway towards Ljubljana at exit Brezje and then we follow the signs towards Kropa. We park on a parking lot by the sports field in Kropa.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we walk to a house with house number 7 and here we continue left on at first still asphalt road. The road quickly becomes a macadam and there we ascend to a church of Kroparska Mati Božja.
From the church, we continue on a cart track which is ascending diagonally towards the left over a relatively steep slope. Higher, we step on the forest ridge, where we continue sharply right in the direction of Jamnik (left Brezovica, straight Češnjica). We still continue on a cart track which is then ascending on a relatively gentle ridge. A little higher we come to the memorial, after which the path for some time slightly descends, and then it starts ascending steeper. We follow the cart track for few minutes, after that marked path turns slightly left into a dense forest, through which it is ascending on a torrent ditch. The path then flattens and it quickly brings us to an asphalt road which leads from Kropa towards Jamnik.
We follow the road to the left and it quickly brings us out of the forest on a panoramic slopes. On the road, we walk for few minutes, and then only few meters after the sign Jamnik (the sign which marks the beginning of the village), we continue right on an ascending cart track in the direction of Vodice. We continue on the cart track which is ascending diagonally towards the left, and after approximately 15 minutes of walking, it brings us to a crossing, where the path from the village Jamnik joins. Here we continue slightly right (direction Meta, Vodice) and on a relatively new cart track we ascend to the nearby forest road which we follow to the right. Further, we are for some time ascending on the mentioned road, and then immediately after sharp the left turn, blazes and signs for Vodice point us to the right on an ascending cart track. The cart track gradually narrows and at the crossings we follow it in the direction of Vodice. The path then flattens and further it leads us on a plateau terrain of forested Jelovica.
From the old cart track, eventually signs for Vodice point us to the right on an easy to follow footpath which gradually ascends on the ridge of Zidana skala. We some time walk by the ridge and then we get to the vantage point Zidana skala, from which a nice view opens up on Karawanks and Kamnik Savinja Alps.
From the vantage point, the path returns into the forest and then it is ascending by the edge of very steep and mainly in wet for slipping dangerous slopes. The path ahead is for few minutes ascending, and then turns slightly to the right and starts relatively steeply descending. During the descent, we still walk by the edge of steep slopes, which are dangerous for slipping, and also a memorial plaque of a hiker who died warns us of this. The path then gradually flattens and it brings us to NOB monument, where we join a wider cart track.
Here we go right and we continue on a cart track which after few minutes starts descending steeply towards the mountain pasture Vodiška planina. After a short descent, the path flattens and brings us on the mentioned mountain pasture, in the middle of which stands Partisan cottage.
