Access to starting point:
A) From Ljubljana, we drive on the Gorenjska motorway towards Jesenice, and we follow it to the exit Ljubelj (Podnart). Further, we drive on the fast road towards Ljubelj and at the first junction we turn right, where we then quickly arrive at a roundabout, from which we continue in the direction of Podnart and Kropa. The road then leads us through the underpass under the motorway and a little further brings us to a crossroads, where the road from Naklo joins. Here we continue right, and we continue on the road, which starts gradually descending. In the middle of the descent we come to a crossroads, where we continue sharply left (direction Kropa) and then immediately behind the bridge over the Sava river again left (right Podnart). Further, we drive along the Lipnica stream and we follow the road to a crossroads, where a road towards Kamna Gorica branches off to the right. Here we continue left towards Kropa and we follow the road through the mentioned settlement. Only a few meters before the house with house number 7, we will notice on the left side a sports field and below it a parking lot, where we park.
B) From the Gorenjska direction we leave the motorway towards Ljubljana at the exit Brezje and then we follow the signs towards Kropa. We park on the parking lot by the sports field in Kropa.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we walk to the house with house number 7, and here we continue left on the initially still asphalt road. The road quickly becomes macadam, and we ascend on it to the church of Kroparska Mater Božja.
From the church, we continue on the cart track, which ascends diagonally towards the left over a relatively steep slope. Higher, we reach the forest ridge, where we continue sharply right in the direction of Jamnik (left Brezovica, straight Češnjica). We continue on the cart track, which then ascends on a relatively gentle ridge. A little higher we come to the memorial, after which the path temporarily slightly descends, then it starts ascending more steeply. We follow the cart track for a few more minutes, after which the marked path turns slightly left into dense forest, through which it ascends in a torrent gully. The path then flattens and quickly brings us to the asphalt road that leads from Kropa towards Jamnik.
We follow the road to the left, and it quickly brings us out of the forest onto partly scenic slopes. We walk on the road for a few more minutes, then only a few meters behind the Jamnik sign (the sign that marks the beginning of the village), we continue right onto the ascending cart track in the direction of Vodice. We continue on the cart track, which ascends diagonally towards the left, and after approximately 15 minutes of walking it brings us to a junction, where the path from the village Jamnik joins. Here we continue slightly right (direction Meta, Vodice) and on a relatively new tractor track we ascend to the nearby forest road, which we then follow to the right. Further, we ascend for some time on the mentioned road, then immediately after the sharp left bend the markings and signs for Vodice direct us right onto the ascending cart track. The cart track gradually narrows, and at the junctions we follow it in the direction of Vodice. The path then flattens and further leads us through the plateau-like terrain of forested Jelovica.
From the old cart track path, after some time the signs for Vodice direct us right onto a nicely traceable footpath, which gradually ascends to the ridge of Zidana skala. We walk along the ridge for some time, then we arrive at the scenic point Zidana skala, from which a nice view opens up onto the Karavanke and Kamniško Savinjske Alpe.
From the scenic point the path returns to the forest, and it further ascends along the edge of very steep slopes that are especially dangerous for slipping when wet. The path ahead ascends for a few more minutes, then turns slightly right and starts descending relatively steeply. During the descent we still walk along the edge of steep slopes that are dangerous for slipping, on which a memorial to the deceased hiker also warns us. The path then gradually flattens and brings us to the NOB memorial, where we join a wider cart track path.
Here we continue right and continue the path on the cart track, which after a few minutes starts steeply descending towards Vodiška planina. After a short descent the path flattens and brings us to the mentioned mountain pasture, in the middle of which stands the Partizanski dom.
