Kropa (Srednji Konec) - Ažmanov rovt (via Vreteno and higher on the road)

Access to starting point:
A) From Ljubljana, we drive on Gorenjska highway towards Jesenice, and we follow it to exit Ljubelj (Podnart). Further, we drive on the road towards Ljubelj and at the first turn we turn right, where we then quickly get to a roundabout, from which we continue in the direction of Podnart and Kropa. The road then leads us through the underpass below the highway and a little further brings us to a crossroad, where the road from Naklo joins. Here we continue right, and we continue on the road which starts gradually descending. In the middle of the descent, we come on a crossroad, where we continue sharply left (direction Kropa) and then immediately behind the bridge through the river Sava again left (right Podnart). Further, we drive by the river Lipnica and we follow the road to a crossroad, where a road towards Kamna Gorica branches off to the right. Here we continue left towards Kropa and we follow the road to the company (Novi Plamen), where we turn right. The road goes then by the factory and behind it, it crosses a bridge, where we come to a crossroad. Here we continue sharply left and follow the road ahead to the parking lot at parish church of St. Lenart in Kropa.
B) From Gorenjska we leave the highway towards Ljubljana at exit Brezje and then we follow the signs towards Kropa. When we come to Kropa we follow the road to the company (Novi Plamen), where we turn right. The road goes then by the factory and behind it, it crosses a bridge, where we come to a crossroad. Here we continue sharply left and follow the road ahead to the parking lot at parish church of St. Lenart in Kropa.

Path description:
From the parking lot at the church and cemetery we walk above the parking lot, where a little right from NOB monument we notice signposts for mountain pasture Vodiška planina.
We go on a slightly left path, which is a little shorter as the right one and also a little more demanding.
At the beginning we walk on a cart track, from which at first a view opens up a little on Kropa, and then the path passes into the forest, through which we are still ascending on a cart track. During the diagonal ascent we cross few gullies, and higher we pass to a torrent ditch, where the path becomes pretty steep and technically a little harder. With the help of unusual fixed safety gear we ascend a level higher, where we turn right and we steeply ascend on stairs. After the mentioned part path becomes easier, and it is still steeply ascending, when we reach the ridge of Vreteno, we join the path which leads past Slovenska peč (Slovenska peč is the oldest preserved furnace in Slovenia, built in 14th century).
We continue in the direction of Vodice, where we go past a smaller cross, and the path there is still quite steep. Higher, the path leads us past a smaller source, and above it for some time a view opens up a little. Next follows a shorter fenced part of the path, and then the path flattens and it brings us on the edge of Jelovica, and few steps ahead also on the bottom part of the mountain pasture Vodiška planina. Next follows a shorter walk on the mountain pasture and we get to the cottage Partizanski dom na Vodiški planini.
We bypass the cottage on the left side, and immediately behind it we go right and we continue walking on the macadam road. The road quickly passes into the forest, through which at first continues without large changes in altitude, and then it starts lightly descending, and at the crossroads, we continue straight, larger crossroads are marked, and there we stick in the direction for Planinski dom Goška Ravan. This road which all the way to Razpok runs through the forest, we follow all the way to cottages on Razpok, where from the periphery of plateau a nice view opens up on Karawanks.
We go slightly left and we continue walking on the macadam road which leads us by the edge of plateau. During a light descent occasionally a nice view opens up on Karawanks, and a little further also on Julian Alps, where we clearly see Triglav. The road further avoids edge of Jelovica a little to the left and it brings us on Ažmanov rovt, where there are some holiday cottages.
