Access to starting point:
A) From Ljubljana, we drive on the Gorenjska highway towards Jesenice, and we follow it to the Ljubelj (Podnart) exit. Further, we drive on the road towards Ljubelj and at the first junction we turn right, where we then quickly arrive at a roundabout, from which we continue in the direction of Podnart and Kropa. The road then leads us through the underpass below the highway and a little further brings us to a crossroads, where the road from Naklo joins. Here we continue right, and we continue on the road which starts gradually descending. In the middle of the descent, we come to a crossroads, where we continue sharply left (direction Kropa) and then immediately behind the bridge over the river Sava again left (right Podnart). Further, we drive along the Lipnica stream and we follow the road to a crossroads, where a road towards Kamna Gorica branches off to the right. Here we continue left towards Kropa and we follow the road to the company (Novi Plamen), where we turn right. The road goes then by the factory and behind it crosses a bridge, where we come to a crossroads. Here we continue sharply left and follow the road ahead to the parking lot at the parish church of St. Lenart in Kropa.
B) From the Gorenjska direction we leave the highway towards Ljubljana at the Brezje exit and then we follow the signs towards Kropa. When we come to Kropa we follow the road to the company (Novi Plamen), where we turn right. The road goes then by the factory and behind it crosses a bridge, where we come to a crossroads. Here we continue sharply left and follow the road ahead to the parking lot at the parish church of St. Lenart in Kropa.
Path description:
From the parking lot at the church and cemetery we walk above the parking lot, where a little right of the NOB marker we notice signposts for Vodiška planina.
We head for the slightly left path, which is a little shorter than the right one and also a little more demanding.
At the beginning we walk on a cart track, from which at first some view of Kropa opens up, then the path passes into the forest, through which we continue ascending on a cart track. During the diagonal ascent we cross a few gullies, higher we reach a torrent gully, where the path becomes quite steep and technically a little harder. With the help of unusual safety gear we ascend one level higher, where we turn right and steeply ascend on stairs. After the mentioned part the path becomes easier, still steeply ascending, when we reach the ridge Vreteno, we join the path which leads past Slovenska peč (Slovenska peč is the oldest preserved smelting furnace in Slovenia, built in the 14th century).
We continue in the direction of Vodic, where we go past a smaller cross, the path is also in the continuation quite steep. Higher the path leads us past a smaller spring, above it temporarily some view opens up. Follows a shorter fenced part of the path, then the path levels out and brings us to the edge of Jelovica, a few steps further also to the lower part of Vodiška planina. Follows a shorter walk on the planina and we arrive at the Partizanski dom na Vodiški planini.
