Lovska koča Budanje - Kraguljc

Access to starting point:
A) First, we drive to Ajdovščina, then continue driving towards Col. After a short ascent, Ajdovščina ends, and we ascend transversely along the road rising above the Vipava valley. Some 100 meters after the 3.5 km road sign, we will reach a smaller intersection, where a short road closed with a barrier branches off to the right, leading to the nearby hunting cottage Budanje. We park at the intersection on the right side of the road, or about 50 meters ahead on a suitable place by the road on the other side of the road.
B) We drive to Vipava, from where we continue driving towards the settlement Vrhpolje. From Vrhpolje we continue towards Col, Sanabor and Bela, and then drive along the ascending road which brings us higher to a smaller intersection, where we continue left (right to villages Bela and Sanabor). An ascent follows along the road, which in numerous serpentines brings us to the spot where it joins the main road Ajdovščina - Col, and we follow it left downhill. After approximately 500 meters of driving on the main road, we arrive at the start of the marked path leading to Kovk and Sinji vrh. At the starting point there is a wooden mountain sign for Kovk, and nearby there is also a suitable parking place. On the other side of the road, about 50 meters ahead, there is a turn-off to the nearby hunting cottage Budanje, where it is also possible to park by the road.
C) From Godovič or Kalc pri Logatcu we drive to Col, from there continue driving towards Ajdovščina. At the road sign approximately 4 km, we will notice on the right side a smaller parking lot, next to it signs for the footpath to Kovk. On the other side of the road, about 50 meters ahead, there is a turn-off to the nearby hunting cottage Budanje, where it is also possible to park by the road.

Route description:
From the starting point we head onto the footpath in the direction of Kovk. The path goes immediately into the forest through which it first ascends moderately, soon quite steeply. After more than 30 minutes of walking we arrive at a viewpoint from which a nice view opens towards Nanos, Vipava valley and the slopes above us.
The path ahead levels out completely for a while, then gradually starts ascending more steeply again. Further on we ascend through the forest for some time, then past the "wish bell" gradually arrive in a sparser forest and a bit further to a bench, cross and logbook box on Sončnica.
From the logbook box we continue straight for some 10 meters, then arrive at a small valley where there is a junction.
From the junction we continue left (right Kovk) and continue the path along the edge of the plateau on panoramic terrain, after which in a minute or two of further walking we arrive at the Sončnica take-off site.
From the take-off site we continue on the marked path which heads west and leads us along the edge of the plateau. After some shorter ascents and descents we quickly reach the summit of Kraguljc, which we recognize by the small concrete stone (trigonometric point) on the top of the mountain.
