Path description:
From the starting point, we head onto the path towards Župank and Kapunar, first passing the educational board and the parish church of St. Michael, a little further also past Rožni dvor (Rosenhof). The road on which we ascend soon turns left, just a few steps further the blazes direct us sharply right onto a narrower road, from it we immediately go left onto the initially fenced marked path. After a few minutes of ascent we reach the macadam road, which we follow to the right, thus bypassing the water tank on the lower right side.
We continue towards Župank and Kapunar (slightly left unmarked path to Kapunar, which leads west of Perkolica (600 m), straight steeper marked path), where from macadam we quickly transition to asphalt road, along which we ascend all the way to the NOB monument at the Župank homestead.
From the monument we return to the chapel, then continue along the marked macadam road, from which beautiful views open up reaching across the Drava to Pohorje and Karawanks, and with good visibility the Kamniško-Savinja Alps are also clearly visible. A little higher at the right bend a somewhat shorter path joins from the left, which went straight into the forest at the water tank, but we continue along the road, where the signs for Kapunar also direct us.
Along the road we soon reach the Ižek farm, from which a nice view opens onto the currently still quite distant Kapunar. When the road a little further enters a strip of forest, it turns sharply left, at the small intersection we go straight. We bypass the Pavli farm on the right side, a few dozen steps further we go slightly right onto the cart track, which takes us into the forest. In the forest we go right from the cart track onto the footpath, along which we ascend to the macadam road in a few minutes.
We follow the road to the right, at the following intersections following the blazes or signs for Kapunar. There follows a relatively long walk along the macadam road, which we follow to the former guard post now used by radio amateurs. From the guard post, where there is a stamping box, we continue sharply left towards the Kapunerhütte hut. We continue along the initially gentle path, which crosses the slopes to the left, then diagonally ascends the western ridge of Kapunar, from where a nice view opens towards Austria.
We continue left (right Kapunar summit 2 minutes) and descend along the border ridge to the small saddle between both summits of Kapunar.
From the saddle, where a somewhat shorter path also joins, which ascends to the border ridge just before the radio amateurs' hut, we continue towards the Kapunerhütte hut. From the saddle we first still walk along the ridge, then the path turns right onto the Austrian side and descends to the mentioned hut in a few minutes.
