Access to starting point:
At first, we drive to Kranjska Gora, and then we continue driving towards Rateče. At the crossroad, where the road to Planica branches off to the left, and straight it continues towards Italy, we turn right and we drive to the center of Rateče, where we park at the appropriate place.
Path description:
From the center of Rateče we follow the signs for a footpath on Tromeja. At first, we walk on the road which leads through the settlement, and at the crossroads, we follow the signs for Tromeja. We leave the road by the information board Rateče, where signs for a footpath on Tromeja point us to the right (straight Tromeja on the western path (mentioned path on the Slovenian side isn't marked)).
The path ahead immediately passes into the forest, through which we are ascending on quite a steep cart track. Higher, we reach the macadam road which we follow to the right. After about 15 minutes road passes next to the border with Italy, and we at first ascend there by the edge of a panoramic meadow, and then through the forest to the turn-off towards the former mountain hut Dom na Tromeji. At the mentioned crossroad, we continue on the left upper road which we follow to the beginning of sharp right turn, where the road crosses a stream and in the direction of straight continues a footpath on Tromeja.
Just before the mentioned crossing we continue left on a cart track which immediately passes into Italy (turn-off isn't marked). On cart track already after few steps we notice Italian blazes, which lead all the way to good 15 minutes distant bivouac, which we reach without any bigger orientational problems.
After the bivouac we continue right (straight chapel of Marija Snežna, western path in Rateče...), where we quickly reach wider mule track. We continue the ascent on a marked path, which at first few times crosses the mentioned mule track, for a short time continues there, and then is steeply ascending left from a mule track. Higher for some time we return on a mule track, and then we follow the marked path, which brings us on the ridge west from the peak Peč. Here we continue right and in few steps of panoramic walking we ascend on Tromeja.
