Smrečje - Robniške peči (via hunting cottage Stanič)

Access to starting point:
We drive to Preddvor or to the settlement Tupaliče, and then we continue driving in the direction of the settlement Zgornje Jezersko. Only a little after the road sign, which marks the end of the settlement Spodnje Jezersko, at the end of hamlet we turn left in the direction of GRZS learning center, tufa quarry, partisan hospital Krtina... Further, we drive through the valley of Komatevra, and by the path, we can observe numerous rapids and waterfalls of river Kokra. A little before the traffic sign, which from 20th July to 20th October prohibits further driving, we park on a parking lot by the road.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on a macadam road, and it quickly brings us to a smaller crossroad. We continue on wider, slightly left road, by which there is a gate and which still continues by the river Kokra. The road higher makes two hairpin turns and it brings us to a marked crossroad below abandoned homestead Robnik (on some maps also Robenik).
From the crossroad, we continue on the left road in the direction of partisan hospital Krtina and valley Komatevra (slightly right GRZS learning center on Virnikova planina), and by the path, we soon notice a warning, that we entered the area of dwelling of brown bear. The path ahead leads us also over a wooden bridge, after that a little less than 10 minutes long path branches off to the right towards the partisan hospital Krtina, and we continue on the road which gradually becomes quite panoramic. Next follows some ascent on the macadam road, and only a little before the hunting cottage Stanič from a wider road a little narrower road on which we continue branches off slightly to the right. We at first continue without large changes in altitude, and then we for some time moderately descend, and further we mostly cross slopes and two streams. When the road ends we continue in the same direction, where we follow the cart track which diagonally descends, and when it flattens we continue on a slightly left cart track which brings us on a small saddle, where left below us we have to pay attention to the turning point of the road which leads through mountain pasture Virnikova planina.
Here we continue right on newer cart track, and immediately after we leave the forest right below us we notice a hunting observatory. Next follows light diagonal ascent on a quite steep slope, from which a nice view opens up on surrounding forests, and when the cart track turns left, on the western ridge of Robniške peči we leave it. Here at first follows few meters of a little harder ascent, so that we ascend from the cart track on a ridge and then on a steep ridge in few minutes we reach the peak of Robniške peči.
