Access to starting point:
We drive to Tolmin, and then at the traffic light crossroad we continue in the direction of Zatolmin. When we get to Zatolmin we follow the signs for Čadrg and Tolminska korita. Just before the entrance into TNP, we will near the entrance in Tolminska korita notice a larger parking lot, where we park.
Path description:
From the starting point, we continue on the asphalt road which continues through the forest. The road in few minutes ascends to cliffs, which are precipitously descending towards river Tolmin. Carefully we continue through a short tunnel, and then we get to the bridge Hudičev most, which is rising 60 meters high above the gorge Tolminska korita. After the bridge, the road turns right, on the left zig zag from the right joins also the path through gorge Tolminska korita.
Further, the road leads past the entrance into a cave Zadlaška (Dantejeva) jama, and then gradually goes away from both watercourses, Tolminka and Zadlaščica. Higher, we walk past few houses, and behind them we get to a marked crossroad, from where we continue right in the direction of the settlement Zadlaz and mountain hut Koča na planini Razor (left Čadrg). Next follows traversing in a gentle ascent, and in doing so, the narrow road leads past several individual houses. When higher the road turns sharply to the left, we leave it and we continue straight on a marked path in the direction of the mountain hut Koča na planini Razor. The path ahead mostly leads through the forest, and still crosses slopes towards the right. During the crossing we cross few gullies, one is a little more exposed, but we have fixed safety gear for help, so that the passage isn't that difficult, in spite of all some caution is needed. Next follows some diagonal descent, which ends at the crossing the stream Jelovšček. On the other side of the stream, we diagonally ascend towards the right, and then we reach an asphalt road which leads towards Tolminske Ravne. We continue with the ascent on the road which at first leads through a right, and then also through a left hairpin turn. After the left hairpin turn signs for mountain pasture Razor point us to the right, on the path, on which in few steps we reach a mule track. The mule track at first ascends diagonally, and then in few hairpin turns runs over a shorter jump. Above the jump, the path passes into a dense forest, and higher it returns on the road which we then follow all the way to Tolminske Ravne, where little behind the chapel we get to a marked crossing, from which we continue left in the direction of the mountain pasture Planina na Kalu and mountain hut Koča na planini Razor.
The path ahead at first leads over a grazing fence, and then we continue on a cart track which continues through a meadow, and from there a nice view opens up on Tolminski Migovec. Cart track soon turns right and it brings us to a rocky fence, where it splits into two parts.
We continue on the left upper cart track in the direction of the mountain pasture Planina na Kalu (slightly right mountain hut Koča na planini Razor), which is then ascending gently. A little higher, at the older water storage we continue right, and then we cross a torrent. We soon get to the next crossing, where we continue left in the direction of the mountain pasture Planina na Kalu and Tolminski Migovec. An old mule track further for some time continues by or a little right from the nearby torrent, and then at the smaller cairn from a mule track, the path which continues by a torrent branches off slightly to the left and leads further towards the saddle between the peak Javor on the left and Grušnica on the right, and we still stick to mule track.
Higher, we reach the next marked crossing, where another path branches off to the right towards the mountain pasture Razor, and we continue left and we short time continue in only gentle ascent. A minute or two ahead we leave the gentle path and we continue slightly right in the direction of the mountain pasture Planina na Kalu (straight we get to the before mentioned saddle, from which we can continue on Javor or in the village Čadrg, and meanwhile there is another turn-off towards the mountain pasture Planina na Kalu). After a shorter little steeper ascent we return on a mule track, where we also join the path from Čadrga.
We continue right and we are ascending on a mule track all the way to the mountain pasture Planina na Kalu, where right from a small saddle stand some old cottages.
From the saddle, from where a nice view opens up towards the valley of Tolminka, Vrh nad Peski, and a view is also nice on peaks above Tolminske Ravne, which we occasionally already saw during the ascent, we continue slightly left from the ridge of Grušnica, on easy to follow path. After a shorter diagonal ascent we reach the eastern ridge of Grušnica, from where a nice view opens up towards the south. Here the path turns a little to the right, and then in few minutes of more and more panoramic walking it brings us on a panoramic peak, from which a nice view opens up on surrounding mountains.
