Vranček - Hajnževo sedlo (path past the mountain pasture Korošica)

Access to starting point:
We drive towards the border crossing Ljubelj. After the end of the last tunnel, a large scree is visible on the left side of the road. The road turns a little to the right, then follows a long left turn. In the middle of this turn, a poorer forest road branches off to the right. Right at its very beginning, on the left side, there is a road cottage or shelter where they store roadside poles, which they place in winter. We can park at a small parking lot by the cottage, where there is space only for a few vehicles, or we can drive a few tens of meters further on the forest road and come upon another smaller parking lot on the right side and, a few meters behind it, one a little larger, just before the passage over the torrent.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue in the same direction, over the torrent on a bad forest road which higher up changes into a cart track. In the lower part, the path is quite unpleasant due to walking on thick gravel and some fairly steep sections. After about 20 minutes of walking from the parking lot, we can save part of the walk along this cart track with a shortcut, turning left onto it in the sharp, steep right bend of the cart track (the path is well visible from the track). After about 10 minutes of walking along this shortcut through the forest, we rejoin the marked path. Here the path along the cart track is already more pleasant; we walk through the forest and among clearings.

From the meadow below the cottage, which we already see above us, we head slightly right, cross a few meters wide muddy area over which a small bridge takes us, and in a few minutes arrive at the cottage on the mountain pasture Korošica.

At the cottage, we head slightly right uphill across the pasture, which soon gives way to sparse forest. The path is very poorly visible at the beginning, but after a few minutes, when we reach the start of the forest, we can find it without difficulty, and from there on it is everywhere well visible, trodden, and marked. It leads us across smaller and larger clearings, through sparse forest, higher through dwarf pines. Along the path we come upon a few springs where we can also refill water. After approximately 30-40 minutes of walking from the mountain pasture Korošica, we reach the border ridge and saddle. A nice view opens up on the Austrian side. We can head a few tens of meters further right, towards the start of the path from Hajnževo sedlo to Veliki vrh in Košuta; from there the view is even better. To the left above us ascends a path leading to Ljubeljska Baba (Košutica).
