Planina nad Vrhniko is for inhabitants of Vrhnika something like, Šmarna gora for inhabitants of Ljubljana. It is 733 meters high, and is reachable from several paths and different directions. In the summer, the paths are in a pleasant shade, and in the winter they are well-beaten. Because of the proximity, it is a popular tourist destination, which attracts many nature lovers and others, who are gaining fitness for more demanding tours. On the top next to the mountain hut there is a wooden lookout tower.
Since the year 2018, next to the lookout tower, at the spot of the old mountain hut, there is a new mountain hut.
