Description: If you liked it, please give a thumbs up and if you subscribe to my channel in addition, I'd be very happy. The Thaneller is a sensational and grandiose vantage peak in the Lechtal Alps near Reutte/Tirol, visible prominently from afar. It is quite easily reachable from Rinnen near Berwang. However, from Heiterwang, starting point of the Kar-Lift valley station, 1,050 m, the more exposed Werner-Riezler-Steig leads mostly without protections but well marked, over the Thanellerkar, diagonally across the north face to the north ridge and further to the summit. This varied mountain tour with crossing over the Thanellerkar requires absence of vertigo, utmost surefootedness and experience in easy, partly exposed ridge climbing up to grade II. Depending on conditions, as this time in late autumn, snow and snowfields must also be expected. From below, the north face looks like a compact, repelling rock wall. It turns out to be well-structured rock with ledge-like crossbands, stepped terrain crisscrossed by steep gullies. The partly Dolomite-like north face is cleverly overcome with a mix of simple paths, short rope protections and well-stepped free climbing quite entertainingly until one reaches the panoramic summit.
