The Knittelkarspitz offers a fantastic view over the Allgäu, Lechtal, Tyrolean and Tannheim Mountains and far beyond. It is recommended to take a longer break at the summit to enjoy the view. It is a striking rocky mountain that should only be tackled by experienced mountaineers. The tour in the Lechtal Alps leads us to the highest peak of the Liegfeist group. The ascent from Kelmen via Kelmer Jöchl is steep, partly exposed and secured with wire ropes in some places. Surefootedness, absence of vertigo and good fitness are absolutely necessary. Ultimately, about 1,200m of elevation gain must be overcome both on the ascent and descent. The path is continuously well marked. The Knittelkarspitze is no secret tip, but still far from an overcrowded summit, so you usually only share the peace and solitude of the mountains with a few like-minded people.
