Description:
Hike to the Neue Heilbronner Hütte at 2320 meters, in Vorarlberg, Austria, nestled in the picturesque Verwall mountains. I spent the night in the winter cabin, also known as Peter Käß Hütte, which is equipped with a stove, a kitchen, three tables and a lot of beds both on the ground and on the first floor. In the lowest one there is a bathroom and a room full of firewood. I started the hike in Piel, near Galtür in Tyrol. After about 1h30 I reached the Friedrichshafener Hütte, located at 2151 meters on the Muttenalpe. From here I continued reaching the Muttenjoch, a saddle at 2620 meters. A short hike down into the valley and then up again to finally reach the Neue Heilbronner Hütte. After a comfortable night and cleaning up the hut, I continued the loop hike to the west and reached Zeinissee, Vorbecken Zeinis and Stausee Kops, three lakes, one of which is artificial, located by the Gasthof Zeinisjoch. I continued then towards Galtür and then back to the starting point. Hike of approximately 29 km and 1500 meters of elevation gain.
