Today a magnificent day in Val Varaita and more precisely in the Bellino Valley, reached by turning left at the exit from Casteldelfino. The goal is Monte Ferra with possible other peaks depending on the conditions we encounter. Monte Ferra (3094 m), located in Valle Varaita, is a nodal point separating the Reisassa, Bondormir and Varaita di Rui valleys. The toponym clearly refers to the iron mineralizations, quite widespread in the upper Bellino Valley, already known to the Romans, exploited discontinuously until the end of the 19th century, when they were no longer considered profitable.
