Description:
We arrive from la Zubia (Granada), to leave the vehicles in the parking lots of the Mirador de La Espartera or Collado Sevilla. As soon as we start, we gain height and in a short time, the fog disappeared. The view became that of a beautiful painting with the Alayos, the loma de Peñamadura and further in the background the high summits of Sierra Nevada. (Mainly, El Veleta, los Tajos de la Virgen, El Cartujo and the horse) If we looked to the west, we saw the Boca de la Pescá and the cerro de las Pipas. We walk along the arid track, which takes us to a viewpoint. There is a panoramic informative panel of the arenales del Trevenque. Here there are two options to continue: You can go down directly to the arenales del Trevenque or continue along the track. This goes along the slope of the arroyo de Huenes and dies the same as the other option at the foot of the Trevenque. On this occasion! We preferred to continue along the track, enjoying the wonderful views of Sierra Nevada, covered up to the feet with snow. We enjoyed every step, delighting ourselves with the gaze or all around us. We reach the end of the track, at the foot of the Trevenque, about 1800 m approx. From here there is a path that takes you directly to the summit. It is quite steep and slippery with snow. It was not necessary to put on crampons, the snow was well trodden. The trees covered with snow gave the image of a Christmas postcard. The Trevenque is the queen mountain of the medium mountain and has many visits. From the summit it is an authentic viewpoint and in its surroundings there are numerous tracks and paths to enjoy the mountain. We ascend, passing next to rock formations of striking shapes and some beautiful pines. We reach the southwest ridge, from here we spot the ski station. We tackle the last meters on the rock and finally arrive at the Summit of the Trevenque (2.083 m). We take the obligatory photos and eat something and after recovering strength, we resume the march. The first meters of descent are where we have ascended. You have to be attentive to take the path that descends southeast direction. This is well defined in the snow, has quite inclined sections. The descent is fast and fun, with snow it is awesome. We arrive at a track between pines, which takes us to the track where the Sulayr runs. We take direction to the left, which takes us to the Botanical Garden. The track is snowy and in some sections the footprints reach up to the knee. We go bordering the north face of the Trevenque and among the pines from time to time we can see its silhouette. We arrive at the Botanical Garden and the cortijo de la Cortijuela, a beautiful area, with a very good water fountain. Next to the fountain there is an indicative poster, which indicates that the GR-240 or Sulayr leaves the track, making a 180º turn to ascend along the arroyo de Benalcazar. Our path was another and we omit the Sulayr indications. We continue along the track for about two hundred meters and turn along a track to the right. We gain height progressively, without hardly noticing. The image of the Trevenque accompanies us on our left, until we reach the collado Ruquino. Now we see new three thousanders of Sierra Nevada and Pradollano much closer. We arrive at a collado next to the Cerro del Cocón (1855m), here we see cerro Gordo (1891m) on our left, we begin to descend towards the foot of the cerro Gordo. We cross the path that leads to the Forest Refuge of Fuente Fría and we tackle a strong climb that takes us to the llano del Chopo. We cross this plain and arrive at the cerro del Tamboril (1.772 m altitude) we climb a few meters to the summit and stop to eat enjoying the wonderful views towards Granada and Sierra Nevada. We resume the march, unclimbing what we climbed and head to the pico de la Carne. The snow here was already intermittent and the mud was gaining ground, which made the step more difficult. We ascended to the summit of pico La Carne (1.809 m alt.) We went up the path of the north slope and the descent we did by the west slope. Following the layout of the path, we were cresting and descending for a kilometer, passing next to a cross embedded in a rock, until we reached the crossing of the path PR-A 20 Without stopping losing height at each step, we went passing between pines until we reached the bridge of the Siete Ojos. We link with the track and parallel to the Arroyo de Huenes we arrive directly at the car. Immediately afterwards we went to the fountain of the Hervidero, to eat a plate of patatas a lo pobre, stuck to the chimney. Well deserved, after this landscaped route and wonderful 19 km Route.
