Brinje - Borovje (via rovt Vrse and saddle)

Access to starting point:
We leave the Gorenjska motorway at the Jesenice - west exit (Hrušica) and continue driving towards Kranjska Gora. After approximately 5 km of driving from the place where we left the motorway, signs for Dovje direct us to the right. We drive into the mentioned village, through which we follow the signs for Kepa and Dovška Baba. Soon above Dovje the asphalt ends, and the road brings us only about 100 m further to the marked junction, where signs for Kepa direct us sharply to the left (straight ahead Dovška Baba). We drive ahead for quite some time, thereby "ignoring" all smaller junctions. Higher up we arrive at a somewhat larger junction, where the road branches off to the left towards Rovt Vrse, while straight ahead the road continues towards Erjavčev rovt (signs along the road for Kepa). We park at the parking area by the mentioned junction, or we can continue driving along the left road for a while longer.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we take the left road, which first ascends moderately, then flattens out completely and crosses the slopes to the left. The road, from which we occasionally get nice views of the Julian Alps, brings us after approximately 15 to 20 minutes to the place where we will notice a small cairn on the right side, from which a path branches off leading to Borovje (Borovje along the ridge).
We continue straight and follow the road for a few more minutes, then about 100 m above a sharp right bend we notice a wide cart track that turns right from the road. We head onto the mentioned cart track, to which an arrow on a nearby tree also directs us. The path ahead quickly takes us out of the forest, and along the edge of the forest we ascend to the cottages at Rovt Vrse.
Here we continue straight ahead, i.e., on the left side of both cottages, where above the meadow we notice a somewhat faintly trodden path that higher becomes a cart track, which ascends through initially sparse forest. The cart track soon ends, and we continue the ascent first along the torrent gully, higher the path enters the gully, which is no longer so pronounced. Along the mentioned gully we ascend to the saddle between Planica on the left and Borovje on the right in a few minutes.
On the saddle named Šija 1 we continue right (sharply left Planica, left Kepa over Kurjeke, straight down Erjavčev rovt via pathless terrain (very demanding)) and first ascend diagonally to the right, then the path reaches the ridge where it begins to ascend steeply. Higher up the trail flattens—from which we temporarily get a view towards Kepa and Dovška Baba—and a little higher turns right onto steep slopes. Across these slopes we ascend diagonally, then join the "ridge" path.
Here we continue left and briefly traverse to the right. After a short traverse we exit the forest into rockier terrain, across which via a slightly exposed slope we ascend to the cross on Borovje.
