Celje - Sveti Peter (Olešče)

Access to starting point:
Celje, the third largest Slovenian town accessible from several sides. We park somewhere between the railway station and the bridge over the river Savinja in the direction of Laško. The problem could be, because the parking lots are mainly payable... if you come by train, these problems fall away.

Path description:
We start at the bridge over Savinja at the sign with panorama image of Celje hills. The path in the part to the final turn-off on Srebotnik is the initial part of CPP - Celje mountain trail. In the first part we walk on the path between the river Savinja and the railway track to the confluence of the rivers Voglajna and Savinja. We continue over a bridge and under the railway track to the right and further on the path Pelikanova pot on castle Stari grad.
From the castle we continue left steeply uphill past the inn and we follow a well-hardened path through the settlement Osenca. From the left the path from the settlement Teharje joins. We continue on the asphalt path through the settlement Pečovje and we follow the turn-offs mainly to the right, which are very well marked with signposts.
In the forest part from the left joins also mountain path from Štore named,,via Marija,,. We continue on the forest road by two or three houses/holiday cottages and then we go once again left on a little narrower forest path and higher partly also a cart track. The path is again a little steeper ascending and on the left side there are also some steel cables, more in the function of a fence than grip.
We soon reach the crossing, straight and higher for Srebotnik, and we continue left and after good hundred meters of a descent we reach Mary's chapel carved into a wall of Srebotnik. Here there are bench, table and inscription box, and after a short rest we continue from the chapel upwards on the forest path and we follow the signs for Svetina or signs of the path Barbarina pot. On a larger grassy clearing there is a crossing, where we continue left for Almin dom, to the right leads the path on Tolsti vrh...
We follow the forest path to a crossing, where the path continues upwards on Almin dom, and we descend right downwards into the settlement Svetina. After a shorter sightseeing of the settlement, we continue on the path of XIV division by the cemetery (a grave of great traveler Alma Karlin, immediately left by the entrance) on the road in the direction of Kanjuce. At the larger homestead we go right on the road, also along the fence for horses we come on a saddle to a wooden cross right by the road. Soon after the cross, the path leads right upwards on Veliki vrh.
We continue from the cross straight and a little downwards, the path runs partly in the forest and through meadows. At one of the homesteads we reach the asphalt road and the main part of the settlement Kanjuce. We follow the asphalt path with great markings among homesteads on a diverse road all the way to part of the settlement Sela. A wooden sign points us to the right on a macadam road and on a built garage there is one of the last trail blazes with Roman numeral 14. From the garage further, the blazes vanish, and in a more distinct forest part we simply follow the road. This is somewhere the end of municipality Štore and beginning of municipality Laško. When we come out of the forest downwards we already see the settlement Olešče with the church of St. Peter on the hill. We follow the road through Petrovo Selo downwards by dispersed homesteads, more or less maintained chapels...There unfortunately aren't any blazes and at two crossings we continue to the right which is of course logically because of a better macadam road. We soon reach the church, a little on the hill and this is also today's destination in the area between Svetina and Jurklošter.
