Grčarevec - Laze (via Vranja jama)

Access to starting point:
A) From the direction of Ljubljana we drive to Kalc, and there at the crossroads we turn left in the direction of Koper and Postojna.
B) From the direction of Godovič we drive to Kalc pri Logatcu, and there at the crossroads we turn left in the direction of Koper and Postojna.
C) From Ajdovščina, Predmeje or Črni Vrh nad Idrijo we drive to Col, and from there we continue driving to Kalc pri Logatcu. At the crossroads at Kalc we turn left in the direction of Koper and Postojna.
D) From the direction of Koper we leave the highway at exit Unec, and then we follow the signs for Planina and on the old road we also follow the signs for Planina.

We park at the bus stop in Grčarevec.

Path description:
In Grčarevec we head downhill towards the karst field. For half an hour we walk along the field with the Unica, then at the junction we choose the sign for Laze via Vranja jama 1h 10 min. The path goes uphill on macadam, after five minutes there are two direction signs on a tree. One points straight ahead, the other right, both without inscriptions. We turn right onto the cart track. For five minutes we walk through the forest and on the left we find a rock with arrows. One arrow points straight ahead, the other to the path uphill. We go straight ahead, after a few steps there is an arrow on the ground beside the blaze. The cart track turns into a path. The terrain becomes difficult and slopes downhill, where there is the sinkhole Pod Stenami. Triangular blazes accompany us, which are a sign that we are approaching the cave. We arrive at a junction of two paths, both without direction signs. We choose the right one (the left path goes past a pile of rocks to Skedena jama).

In a minute we arrive at the direction sign with the inscription Laze, which we follow among rocks on the path uphill. On this section in wet conditions there is a risk of slipping. The right edge of the path runs along the wall of the sinkhole Pod stenami. Trees root into the sinkhole (which does not mean that the wall is not almost vertical). The path between the sinkhole Pod stenami and the cave is narrow, so we maintain our balance. Small trees will only provide rotten support (check them before grabbing). A view opens onto Planinsko polje, and we are already at the steep ascent. Fifteen minutes of forcing through, then the rocks will disappear and the path will level out. Five minutes and from the cave on the right the treetops will appear. This is Vranja jama and from here we already feel the cold. Near the edge where there are rocks be careful, as it is slippery on the leaves. After two minutes we reach a wooden fence, from there the path descends to the entrance of Vranja jama. The path (partly marked) first turns right to the wall, then among the trees. The temperature drops by two degrees with every minute walked. The descent to the point where we can already see the entrance will take five minutes. If you want to enter the cave, in rainy weather (due to the water flow) it will be difficult to manage.

From Vranja jama to Laze only an easy and short walk remains. Ten minutes on macadam (past Najdena jama), to reach the junction with the asphalt road and along it in fifteen minutes to the destination.
