Hrastovlje - Lačna

Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Koper, we take the exit Črni Kal. From Črni Kal, we continue driving on the old road towards the coast, but we drive along it only to the next somewhat larger intersection, where we turn left in the direction of the border crossing Sočerga. Further on, we drive towards the mentioned border crossing, but we follow the road only for a few km, as then the signs for the village Hrastovlje direct us left onto a local road. After a few km of further driving, we arrive in Hrastovlje, where at the intersection by the small chapel we continue right towards TIC Hrastovlje. We park on the parking lot near the TIC.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue along the initially still asphalt road, which we follow to the first fork. Here we continue left and follow the poorer macadam road past vineyards and fields to the spot where the marked footpath turns sharply right. We continue on the marked path, which first gently, then steeply ascends over the flysch hillside. Higher up, the path crosses a wider cart track and ascends above it through another ragged flysch hillside. Higher up, the path becomes increasingly scenic, and beautiful views open up to us on Hrastovlje and the steep step of Kraški rob. The path ahead steeply ascends over a small scree, then turns right and levels off somewhat. A moderate ascent follows through a pine grove and shrubbery, after which the path levels off even more and brings us to the summit of Lačna in a few minutes of further walking.
From the top, we can also climb to the lookout tower, from which a nice view opens up towards Slavnik, Učka, Gulf of Trieste, and in good weather all the way to the Dolomites and Julian Alps.
