Access to starting point:
Through the border crossing at Rateče we drive through Trbiž / Tarvisio. If we drive on the highway, we leave it at the exit for Tablja / Pontebba. We continue driving on the old road in the direction of Videm / Udine. In the settlement Na Bili / Resiutta we turn left towards the valley of Rezija (Val Resia). Further, we drive on a narrower asphalt road and follow the signs for the settlement Solbica / Stolvizza and then for the settlement Korito / Coritis. On a narrow and occasionally steep road, we drive towards the settlement Korito. About 500 meters before the village, a narrow road branches off to the left, where there are also signposts for path 657. We park near the crossroads.
Access is also possible on a narrow and winding road through the border crossing Učja.
Path description:
At the crossroads, we head left onto the narrower road where signs direct us to Ta Na Rawni and bivouac Marussich. At first, we slightly descend and cross Suhi Potok, which flows into Rezija stream nearby. Some hundred meters later, we continue along Rezija stream and also cross Ronk stream. Here, the road turns right and begins to ascend, and in the left bend it brings us to a marked junction.
Here, we leave the road and continue right on path 657, which runs near the aforementioned stream. The path then turns left and begins to ascend through the forest. Further on, we ascend through the forest for quite some time and only occasionally do we get a view of the surrounding peaks. Higher up, we cross the mountain road followed by a shorter ascent through the forest that brings us to a smaller pasture where there is also a house. The path leads past the house and brings us back to the mountain road.
The path then takes us for some time along the road and footpath that runs near the road and crosses it several times. Higher up, we rejoin the mountain road along which we continue for some time. Then the markers direct us right into the forest and we finally leave the mountain road that leads to the pasture Ta Na Rawni. This is followed by an ascent through the forest along a slightly less trodden path. Such a path soon brings us to a junction where we join the path from the village Solbica / Stolvizza.
We continue right on path 634 towards bivouac Marussich. From the junction, we then ascend traversely through the forest towards the east for some time. A few times we still ascend in switchbacks, then the path brings us out of the forest onto steeper slopes mostly covered with grass. Further on, we cross steep slopes to the east for quite some time, slightly descending in the process. The slopes are quite steep, so some care is occasionally needed when crossing. From the path we have a nice view of the Rezija valley and surrounding peaks. Such a path then brings us to a marked junction at Planina Grubje (Casera Grubia).
To the right downward branches off transverse path 642/a towards Planina Kanin (Casera Canin), while we continue straight towards bivouac Marussich. We begin to ascend again along the mostly grassy slope with a view of the sheer walls of Vrh Krnice and Visoki Kanin. Further on, we ascend such a slope for quite some time mostly in long switchbacks. Along such a path we then ascend all the way to the saddle Sella Grubia / Peravo.
From the saddle, where there is a marked junction, we descend just a few meters to the bivouac.
On the way: Planina Grubje / Casera Grubia (1458m), Peravo / Sella Grubia (2050m)
