Krivčevo - Jarški dom na Mali planini

Access to starting point:
On 30.08.2008, I set off from the village Krivčevo to the mountain pasture Mala planina. Village Krivčevo is situated on the road between Kamnik and the valley Savinjska dolina. From Kamnik, you drive through the village Stahovica and then continue on the main road until you reach the village Krivčevo (4-5 km from Stahovica). In the village Krivčevo, you will hardly find a parking spot, as the only larger available parking spot is in front of the snack bar Okrepčevalnica pri Jurčku, but there is a sign stating that parking is allowed only for guests. Since a kind word finds a kind place, we first went for morning coffee and blueberries at this snack bar and then asked them if we could leave our vehicle on their property. They allowed us to park, and we could set off towards our destination.

Path description:
From Okrepčevalnica pri Jurčku, go around the corner of the house, where there is also a mountain signpost, uphill. The path is very well marked with mountain signs. This time we went uphill, four of us, including two younger retirees who don’t have much hiking fitness, so we need to consider the walking time from this perspective. Definitely, the pace was appropriate for a family with younger children. At 08:20, we leave the snack bar and, after a few steps, leave the houses of the village Krivčevo and start ascending. The walk lasts quite some time, but the path is laid out in a zigzag, so the ascent isn’t too steep. During the ascent, we could see trees that were damaged in this year’s (2008) storm. At 09:00, we reached a larger clearing where a larger farm stands. I assume this place is called Podkraj, if we look at the map. The walk continues past the farm and two holiday cottage houses uphill, and at 10:05, we reached the road to the mountain pasture Kisovec, where a larger number of personal vehicles were parked. So, if you want to shorten your path to the mountain pasture Mala planina, you can drive to the mountain pasture Kisovec. From this point, you can take the macadam road to the 2 km distant cottage Dom na Kisovcu, but we went across the road and continued uphill. The path continues through the forest, as it did up to this point, and at 10:35, we reached the edge of Mala planina and saw the first mountain huts characteristic of Velika planina. From here to the cottage Jarški dom, it’s a few minutes of walking, and at 11:00, we arrived at the door of the cottage. Here, we treated ourselves to various dishes (ričet, sour milk, vampe...) and at 12:00, we headed back toward the starting point, arriving there at 13:45. PS: It should be noted that Mala planina is only part of the Velika planina plateau. The path from the cottage Jarški dom could be continued all the way to the top of Velika planina, called Gradišče, which is at an altitude of 1666 meters. From the cottage to Gradišče, it would take approximately 40 minutes. .
