Access to starting point:
We drive to Tržič, then through the Dovžanova soteska gorge and Dolina to Jelendol. In Jelendol at Born's manor we continue straight, then we drive on the main road to the next turn-off of the forest road to the left, which is situated next to MHE Zali potok. We park at an appropriate place at the crossroads.
Path description:
From the main road, we go over Tržiška Bistrica, then past the MHE facility, we continue on a relatively steep forest road. The road leads further along the left side of Zali potok stream, a stream which higher up has two waterfalls. Higher, we arrive at the lower edge of the mountain pasture Zali potok, where the road ends, and we bypass the first cottage on the right side.
The path continues on a cart track, at the junctions choosing the wider cart track. After a few minutes a fairly steep cart track joins from the left, which bypassed the first cottage on the left side, and we continue on the cart track to the next cottage, which is located on the mountain pasture Zali potok.
We continue straight, the cart track leads us into a somewhat sparser forest, where it forks. The noticeably wider cart track turns left and leads to and across the stream, while we continue straight on the steeper cart track. A little higher, when the cart track becomes more grassy, we arrive at the next junction, where we continue sharply right on the grassy cart track (straight on the cart track we can arrive at Zavetišče na planini Šija). The cart track first ascends transversely to the right, then makes a left serpentine and continues ascending transversely to the left. Higher we arrive in dense forest, the cart track turns right. Here we continue through a small valley from which we go slightly right on an overgrown path. We quickly step out of the forest, where on an overgrown cart track we ascend to the nearby forest road.
We reach the road at a quarry, and follow it to the right, on it walking only a short time, as soon as to the left a wide cart track branches off. We continue on the mentioned cart track, at the smaller junction continuing on the wider right one. A fairly steep ascent follows, then after a few minutes we return to the macadam road, on it ascending to the nearby intersection.
From the intersection we continue on the left road (right Tegoška planina), at the nearby next intersection going right in the direction of mountain pastures Šija and Pungrat. The road ascends for a short time longer, then levels out behind the pasture fence, and at the nearby intersection we continue right in the direction of mountain pasture Pungrat (slightly left mountain pasture Šija). Only a short walk follows and along the road we arrive at the mountain dairy on mountain pasture Pungrat.
