parking below Weinebene - Steinmandl (Golica / Koralpe) (via Grünangerhütte)

Access to starting point:
A) Via one of the border crossings with Austria (Korensko sedlo, Karawanks Tunnel, Ljubelj pass, Jezerski vrh pass, Pavličev vrh pass) we drive into Austria, then continue driving on the so-called southern motorway towards Graz. On the mentioned motorway we drive to the settlement of Volšperk / Wolfsberg, where we leave the motorway, then, when we arrive at the old or regional road, we continue driving towards the settlement of St. Gertraud. In the settlement of St. Gertraud we notice signs for the Alpine pass Weinebene, which direct us right onto an ascending asphalt road. On the mentioned road we drive approximately 18 km, then we arrive at the mentioned Alpine pass, which is situated at an altitude of 1668 m. From the pass we begin descending towards the settlement of Lonč / Deutschlandsberg, but we park just a little after the left hairpin turn on the marked parking lot on the right side of the road.
B) Via the border crossing Holmec or Vič we drive into Austria, then continue driving towards the settlement of Volšperk / Wolfsberg. From Volšperk we continue on the regional road towards the settlement of St. Gertraud. In the settlement of St. Gertraud we notice signs for the Alpine pass Weinebene, which direct us right onto an ascending asphalt road. On the mentioned road we drive approximately 18 km, then we arrive at the mentioned Alpine pass, which is situated at an altitude of 1668 m. From the pass we begin descending towards the settlement of Lonč / Deutschlandsberg, but we park just a little after the left hairpin turn on the marked parking lot on the right side of the road.
C) First we drive to Maribor, then continue on the motorway towards the border crossing Šentilj and further on the Austrian motorway towards Graz. We leave the mentioned motorway at the exit for the settlement of Lipnica / Leibnitz. When exiting the motorway at the roundabout we continue towards the settlement of Lipnica / Leibnitz, and further we drive south of the village Gralla, which is today already a kind of peripheral part of Lipnica. Further the road leads us past the industrial or commercial zone, and at the roundabout by the Hofer store we continue "straight" on the second exit towards the settlement of Lonč / Deutschlandsberg. Further we drive for some time on the main road, then after the village Graschach we turn right towards the settlement of Lonč / Deutschlandsberg. At the roundabout directly next to the settlement of Lonč / Deutschlandsberg we continue "straight" towards the Alpine pass Weinebene. From here the road begins to ascend more steeply, we follow it for approximately 17 km, then just before the right hairpin turn on the left side we notice the parking lot, where we park.

Path description:
From the parking lot we head onto a side road towards the hut Grünangerhütte and the pasture Bärentalalm, which crosses the slopes below the main road. Asphalt on the side road ends quickly and we arrive at a junction, where we continue on the upper right road (the slightly left road leads one of the paths to the hut Grünangerhütte). There follows some ascent, and from the right the path from the parking lot Reihkehre - Glashütten joins us, which is located above the hairpin turn mentioned in the access to the starting point. There follows some more crossing, mostly in a gentle ascent, then the path splits again.
This time we continue slightly left towards the hut Grünangerhütte (straight Bärentalalm) and continue on the cart track, which crosses slopes to the left. Soon we cross the nearby stream over a bridge, then for a few minutes we continue through the forest. Later we reach the turning area of the forest road, on which we continue the path, on the road we descend for a few minutes. Lower the marks from the road direct us right onto a cart track, on which we ascend through the forest, which turns into a path, on which we quickly arrive at the hut Grünangerhütte.
Behind the hut we continue right and continue the ascent on the marked footpath. After a few minutes of ascent through sparse forest we arrive at a small junction, where we continue straight towards the path over Steinmandl. A little further we cross the pasture fence, behind it we continue a few minutes of ascent through the forest. When we leave the forest we cross the forest road, immediately above the road the path splits.
Before crossing the pasture fence we go right, where the marked path towards the summit Steinmandl continues (straight unmarked path to the nearby Loskogel). There follows some steep ascent along the edge of the forest, then the path levels out and transitions to the indistinct ridge of the summit Steinmandl, where from the right the path leading over the pasture Bärentalalm joins us, and which is a few minutes shorter than ours.
From here there follows a short moderate ascent and with nice views we reach an interesting summit with towers.
