Access to starting point:
A) From highway Ljubljana - Koper we go to the exit Unec, and then we continue driving towards Cerknica and forward towards Nova vas on Bloke. When we get to the village Grahovo, at the crossroad at the church of St. Mary we leave the main road and we continue driving left on a local road. Further, at first we drive through the village, and then the road gradually brings us into the forest, where we get to a smaller crossroad. We continue straight (left Martinjak) and we drive on a macadam road for some time, and then we get to the sharp right turn, in the middle of which road towards Slivnica branches off to the left. Here we continue left and then we park on an appropriate place by the road.
B) From the road Ljubljana - Kočevje at settlement Žlebič we go in the direction of Sodražica, and then we continue driving towards Bloke. At the end of Nova vas on Bloke we leave the main road which leads towards Cerknica and we continue driving right towards Velike Bloke. At the end of Velike Bloke we continue left towards Radlek, and the asphalt road quickly brings us to the mentioned village. Behind the village the asphalt ends, and we continue driving on a macadam road which soon from the left joins a worse macadam road from Bločice, and we continue straight on the road which soon passes into the forest. Further, we drive past NOB monument, after which we quickly get to the left turn, in the middle of which road towards Slivnica branches off to the right. Here we turn right and then we park on an appropriate place by the road.
Path description:
From the starting point, we continue on the road, by which we've parked, and in a moderate ascent it brings us to a smaller crossroad, where we continue slightly left in the direction of Slivnica and hunting cottage (right road leads towards Kaluže). We continue on a slightly ascending road which we follow for approximately 30 minutes, after that only a little before the nearby hunting cottage blazes point us to the left on at first parallel mountain path. Only a little further from the right joins also the path from the mentioned hunting cottage (and from the left footpath from Grahovo, the path which leads past the ruins of the church of St. Nikolaj), and we continue straight, on a gradually steeper mountain path. Higher, the footpath flattens and out of the forest brings us on several smaller meadows surrounded by bushes.
Further bushes get even thinner, and from the path increasingly beautiful views starting to open up. A little further a nice view opens up also on Cerkniško polje and Snežnik, and our path on this spot crosses grassy cart track. A short ascent follows through a lane of a low forest and then we join a little wider cart track.
When we step on the mentioned cart track, we continue right (left mountain hut Dom na Slivnici 3 minutes), we walk there only few 10 strides, and then we continue slightly left on a beaten footpath, on which we quickly ascend to the summit of Slivnica.
