Radlje ob Dravi - Kapunar / Kapunerkogel (via Župank)

Access to starting point:
A) We drive to Dravograd, and then we continue driving towards Maribor. When we get to Radlje ob Dravi, from the intersection between the stores Hofer and Lidl we turn left in the direction of the mountain pass Radelj and the center of Radlje ob Dravi. We continue on the road which leads us through the center of the settlement (left Austria over mountain pass Radeljski prelaz), on which we drive to the parish church of St. Michael, where by the road we notice red signposts. We park on one of the parking lots in Radlje ob Dravi, but carefully, because on some parking lots it is possible to park only up to 2 hours.
B) From Maribor through the Drava Valley we drive towards Dravograd, and we leave the main road before the settlement Radlje ob Dravi, where signs for the mentioned settlement point us to the right. Further, we drive past the cemetery, health home and police station, and then on the right near the parish church we notice red signposts. We park on one of the parking lots in Radlje ob Dravi, but carefully, because on some parking lots it is possible to park only up to 2 hours.

Path description:
From the starting point, we go on the path in the direction of Županka and Kapunarja, where we at first go past the educational board and past the parish church of St. Michael, and a little further also past Rožni dvor (Rosenhof). The road on which we are ascending soon turns left, only a few steps further the blazes point us sharply right on a narrower road, and from there we go immediately left on the initially fenced marked path. After a few minutes of ascent we reach the macadam road, and we follow it to the right, so that we bypass the water reservoir on the lower right side.
We continue towards Županku and Kapunarju (slightly left unmarked path to Kapunar, which leads west from Perkolica (600 m), straight steeper marked path), where from the macadam we quickly pass on to the asphalt road, on which we ascend all the way to the NOB monument at the homestead Župank.
From the monument we return to the chapel, and then we continue on the marked macadam road, from which beautiful views open up, which reach over the Drava to Pohorje and Karavanke, and with good visibility Kamniško Savinjske Alpe are also nicely visible. A little higher at the right bend a somewhat shorter path joins from the left, which went straight into the forest at the water reservoir, and we continue on the road, where the signs for Kapunar also direct us.
On the road we quickly arrive at the Ižek farm, from where a nice view opens up on the currently still quite distant Kapunar. When the road a little further passes into a strip of forest, it turns sharply left, at the smaller intersection we go straight. We bypass the Pavli farm on the right side, a few 10 steps further we go slightly right on the cart track, which takes us into the forest. In the forest we go from the cart track right on the footpath, on which we ascend to the macadam road in a few minutes.
We follow the road to the right, at the following intersections we follow the blazes or signs for Kapunar. There follows a relatively long walk on the macadam road, which we follow to the former guardhouse, which today is used by amateur radio operators. From the guardhouse, where there is the stamping box, we continue sharply left in the direction of the hut Kapunerhütte, and then at a suitable place we leave the marked path and ascend to the summit of Kapunarja on one of several poorer paths, which lead to the top.
