Šober (Log) - Tojzlov vrh

Access to starting point:
A) From the road Maribor - Dravograd, from the roundabout in Bresternica we drive in the direction of the exit for Gaj nad Mariborom, and immediately after the intersection we go once again left towards Gaj. The path ahead leads us past the Mercator store and then also through part of the settlement Bresternica, then we arrive at the chapel, where we go left towards Gaj nad Mariborom. Continuing, we drive along Bresterniški potok, from the intersection at Šoberjev dvor we go right onto the road towards Sv. Urban. Continuing, we drive through Petkovi graba, and we follow the road to the school bus stop Log, where there is also a marked intersection. We park in a suitable spot at the intersection.
B) We drive to Spodnja Kungota, then we follow the road towards Zgornja Kungota. In the settlement Kozjak nad Pesnico we turn left towards Gaj and Urban. Continuing, we begin to ascend, higher up we follow the signs for Gaj nad Mariborom, later the road that leads towards Bresternica. When we arrive at the intersection where we notice the signs for Tojzlov vrh - Večernikova smer, we park in a suitable spot at the intersection.

Path description:
From the starting point we head onto a side road, alongside which there are signs for Večernikova smer to Tojzlov vrh. Initially we ascend diagonally along the macadam road, when we leave the forest we bypass the Večernik homestead on the right side. Behind the homestead the road flattens temporarily, and from the road a nice view opens towards the church Sv. Križ in Gaj nad Mariborom. The path ahead leads us past a chapel as well, behind which we return to the forest through which we ascend more steeply. The gradient eases when we reach the asphalt road, which we follow to the left, quickly arriving at the settlement Gaj nad Mariborom. Only an easy ascent through the settlement follows and we reach the cemetery, where we turn left, immediately after the intersection we are already at the church Sv. Križ, where alongside the road there is the registration box.
We continue past the church and follow the blazes for Tojzlov vrh. The settlement Gaj nad Mariborom soon ends, and we bypass the nearby farm on the right side. Just a few dozen steps ahead we go left from the road onto the cart track, which ascends along the edge of the forest, at the chapel we cross the asphalt road. Continuing further we ascend along the edge of the forest, then we also pass the Iglič homestead, behind which after a short descent we return to the asphalt road.
There follows about one minute of easy descent and from the right the path from the Šiker homestead joins us.
We continue straight and ascend along the panoramic section, where from the left another path from the settlement Šober joins us.
For a short time we still walk along the panoramic road, from which a nice view opens towards Sv. Urban and the surrounding hills, then the road returns to the forest. There follows a few minutes of moderate ascent and we arrive at Planinski dom Kozjak or Planinski dom Obrtnik on Tojzlov vrh.
Before the hut we go right onto the cart track, alongside which there are signs for the summit. After a few steps the path enters the forest, through which it ascends gently and after a few minutes brings us to the forest-covered summit, where there are the registration box and the NOB monument.
