Šport hotel - Lipenšči hrib

Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, we take the Lesce exit and follow the road in the direction of Bled, where at the traffic-light crossroads signs for Pokljuka direct us to the right. We follow this road, which in the lower part runs through some villages and later starts to ascend more steeply, to the Šport Hotel on Pokljuka. We park at an appropriate place by the road or near the hotel. Parking in front of the hotel is only for guests.

Path description:
From the Šport Hotel on Pokljuka or from the spot where we parked, we first return to the main road, from where we continue towards Rudno polje. After some 10 m, a forest road branches off to the right, on which the marked path towards the mountain pasture Zajavornik and the mountain hut Blejska koča on Lipanca also continues. We continue on the mentioned road, which without large changes in altitude continues through the spruce forest. After about 20 minutes the road ends and brings us to the turnaround spot, from which we continue straight on an ascending cart track. After a few minutes of moderate ascent we arrive at a smaller saddle, from which the marked path starts descending towards the nearby mountain pasture Zajavornik, and we leave the marked path right at this spot and continue right on the indistinct forest ridge of Lipenšči hrib. From the spot where we left the marked path, we walk towards the east and all the time follow some sort of ridge, from which a view opens up towards the mountain pasture Zajavornik for a while. When on the right side a view opens up on the old clearing, we gradually move onto the upper slope of the already mentioned hill. We continue towards the east for a short time, then step out of the forest onto a slope vegetated with some young spruces. Here we head a little more to the right and continue the ascent towards the highest point, which at first is not very distinct yet. Higher up, we spot a hunting observatory, which is situated on Lipenšči hrib, and reach it without major difficulties in one or two minutes of further walking. From the top, or already a little lower, a nice view opens up on Tosc, Viševnik, Mrežce, Debelo peč and other surrounding peaks.
