Šumahovo sedlo - Jesenik (Jesenikov vrh) (via Veliki and Pikov vrh)

Access to starting point:
A) We drive to Mežica, and then we continue driving towards Črna na Koroškem. When Mežica ends, we quickly get to a crossroad, where we continue right in the direction of the settlement Breg and CŠOD Mežica. From the crossroad ahead we start ascending, at the hamlet Zgornji Breg we go left towards Marholče. Next follows some ascent, and then we get to Šumahovo sedlo, where there is a cross Šumahov križ. We park on an appropriate place in near the cross.
B) From Črna na Koroškem, from the settlement Mušenik we turn left on the road in the direction of Pikovo. At the smaller crossroad, we continue straight (right Igerčevo), on the road which continues through the valley, and at the next crossroad, we continue left in the direction of forest road towards the mountain hut Koča na Pikovem (right footpath towards Koča na Pikovem). Further, the road for some time ascends, and then it mainly crosses slopes towards the right, and meanwhile leads us past few turn-offs towards the nearby homesteads. From the crossroad, where slightly to the left, the road towards Koča na Pikovem branches off, we continue slightly right, and then also past few turn-offs towards homesteads and in further crossing we get to Šumahovo sedlo, where on an appropriate place by the religious symbol we park.

Path description:
From Šumahovo sedlo we go on a wide cart track which from the saddle branches off towards the west. A little further quite a steep cart track splits, and we continue left, on a wider cart track which then through one more hairpin turn brings us on Veliki vrh, where there are transmitters, and on the nearby building also an inscription box with an inscription book.
Before the transmitters on the right we notice a footpath which diagonally descends on a smaller saddle west from Veliki vrh, and from the nearby crossing, we continue right in the direction of Pikov vrh (slightly left caves Pikove jame). The path continues with few ascents and descents, and mostly runs on a forested ridge. The path which isn't marked, only on few crossings it is marked, we then follow to a lookout tower on Pikov vrh.
We bypass the tower on the left side, and then we start descending through the forest. At the smaller crossing, we go right, and then at the wooden cross we reach a marked path Pikovo - Mežica, which we follow to the right.
We quickly get to a smaller crossing, where we continue left (straight one of the paths into Mežica), and at the nearby next crossing we go right in the direction of Mežica (straight saddle Vrh šteng).
From the crossing, we quickly ascend on a small saddle, where right downwards path descends towards Mežica, and we continue straight on an unmarked footpath which starts ascending on the south ridge of Jesenik. Further because of numerous fallen trees, which are consequences of strong wind in December 2017, it is hard to follow the path which mostly runs on the ridge. The path higher joins a cart track, where it also flattens.
Cart track at first leads on the ridge and then it passes into a smaller valley, and when it ends we ascend on the nearby peak on a worse footpath.
Šumahovo sedlo - Veliki vrh 15 minutes, Veliki vrh - Pikov vrh 40 minutes, Pikov vrh - Jesenik 50 minutes.
