Access to starting point:
We leave the Gorenjska highway at the Kranj east exit, then follow the signs for Šenčur. In the center of Šenčur, where the main road turns slightly to the left, we turn slightly to the right onto Velesovska cesta. Šenčur soon ends, and after approximately 2 km from the end of the settlement, we turn left in the direction of Velesovo. Through Velesovo we continue on the main road, along which we drive to the Velesovo fire station and the store, where the described path begins.
Path description:
From the fire station we walk to the main road Visoko - Cerklje na Gorenjskem and carefully cross it. We continue on a side road which leads us towards the north to the northeast, along which we continue to the last farm, where the asphalt ends. We continue past the hayrack; by the edge of the forest, the road first turns somewhat to the left, then to the right into the forest, where the first blazes appear. A little further the road changes into a cart track, where at some junctions we follow the blazes; when we reach the ridge of Štorski hrib, where we join the path from Adergas, we continue left and quickly arrive at the marked junction by the chapel.
We continue right in the direction of the path past the klopc (left path past the šterne) on a cart track which gradually begins to ascend moderately. Higher up the path brings us to three successive benches (klopce), from which a nice view opens up onto Gorenjska. The cart track then enters the forest, changes into a fairly steep footpath, which soon levels out and brings us from the forest onto a grassy slope, from which a nice view opens up towards the massif of Kočna, Grintovec and Kalški greben, and across which we walk in a few minutes to the asphalt road and then to the tourist farm Pr Mežnarju.
From the farm we continue on the path which climbs over an initially steep grassy slope, then through a strip of forest. After a good 5 minutes of further walking we step onto Štefanja gora, on which stands the church of St. Stefan.
The description and pictures refer to the condition in September 2020.
