Zavetišče na Biba planini - Goli vrh (Šavnice) (on unmarked path)

Access to starting point:
A) First, we drive to Kamnik, and then we continue driving on a regional road through the valley Tuhinjska dolina. Only a little after the village Laze v Tuhinju, we will get to a gas station, by which road branches off to the left towards villages Golice, Češnjice v Tuhinju and Okrog pri Motniku and Menina planina. Asphalt road further leads us through the mentioned two villages, and then the asphalt ends and still ascending road higher brings us out of the forest on a plateau Menina planina. Here the road flattens, and then past the mountain hut Koča na Limovski planini we quickly get to the parking lot, which is situated little below cottage Zavetišče na Biba planini. We park on the mentioned parking lot, which is situated by the road which continues further towards the mountain hut Dom na Menini planini.
B) From highway Maribor - Ljubljana, we go to the exit Vransko, and then we continue driving in the direction of Kamnik. In the settlement Špitalič we turn at the second turn-off right, where we notice signs for Menina planina and Okrog pri Motniku. After the nearby church we continue left and then on a narrower road we start ascending towards the settlement Okrog pri Motniku. When we higher reach the main road which leads from Češnjice v Tuhinju towards Menina planina, we continue right, and then above the village the asphalt ends. On the macadam road in few kilometers we come out of the forest on a plateau Menina planina, where the road flattens. Next follows driving past the mountain hut Koča na Limovski planini, and then we quickly get to the parking lot, which is situated a little below cottage Zavetišče na Biba planini. We park on the mentioned parking lot, which is situated by the road which continues further towards the mountain hut Dom na Menini planini.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we at first on the road or parallel mountain path walk to the nearby cottage Zavetišče na Biba planini, and from there we continue to the near chapel of St. Anton.
From the chapel we continue on a marked path, which after the chapel turns a little to the left and continues towards the mountain hut Dom na Menini planini, and after nearby watering place we continue right on a poorly beaten footpath, by which on rock we notice a caption Goli vrh. Further path leads diagonally towards the right, so that we quickly reach nearby stone fence, by which we are then ascending. A little higher we get to the next pasture, where we notice one more caption for Goli vrh, and it points us right over a fence on the mentioned pasture. The passage over the fence is relatively easy, because it is settled for mountaineers. When we step on the pasture, the footpath starts vanishing a little, but if we follow the direction towards the northeast, that means on the other side of the pasture, we will occasionally follow a beaten footpath which is on several spots rough because of the grazing or it is overgrown. When we again on settled spot cross stone fence, the path brings us into the forest, through which continues without large changes in altitude. After few minutes, we leave the forest, where we again cross one of grazing fences, and we continue on a worse footpath a little towards the left, so that we reach the next watering place. We continue here slightly towards the right, where we follow occasional footpaths, and then we continue slightly towards the left, where we see nearby ridge, which is situated above next watering place. Still before we reach the mentioned ridge, where smaller monument is situated, we reach normal marked path which leads from the mountain hut Dom na Menini planini towards Šavnice and also a marked path from the cottage Zavetišče na Biba planini towards Šavnice.
Here we continue right, on a cart track which passes into a lane of a forest, and before this it crosses a grazing fence. Short time path leads us through the forest and then we get to pastures of Šavnice, where we at first on the right bypass secondary peak of Goli vrh, and after shorter descent we start ascending towards Goli vrh, highest peak of Šavnice, which in few minutes we reach with increasingly beautiful views, which reach all the way to the highest peaks of Kamnik Savinja Alps.
