Zgornja Kungota - Sveti Urban above Maribor

Access to starting point:
We drive to the roundabout Pesnica and we go to the exit for Lenart. The road towards Lenart v Slovenskih goricah we quickly leave and we continue right in the direction of Zgornja Kungota and Dolnja Počehova, and still before the highway, we go once again right in the direction of Zgornja Kungota. Further, we drive on the main road to Zgornja Kungota, where in the middle of the settlement, we turn right uphill towards the cemetery, where we park.

Path description:
From the parking lot at the cemetery we continue on the road towards the nearby church of St. Kunigunda, where first blazes show up.
Behind the church, we continue left downwards and in few minutes we descend to the main road which we carefully cross at the pedestrian crossing. On the other side of the road, we go right and to the first crossroad we continue on a sidewalk, and then signs for path Svečinska pot point us to the left on a side road which over a bridge crosses the river Pesnica.
Only a little further, we go once again left over the wooden bridge, and behind it we go right, where we continue on an overgrown path which runs between the field and the stream. A little further, the path passes into the forest, where the footpath is still hard to follow, and we follow the blazes. When we leave the forest we reach the cart track, on which we continue towards the nearby homestead, and before the homestead we go sharply right. The path ahead leads us through a lane of a forest and then we reach another road which leads us past few houses. A little further, the road becomes asphalted, and a little further we reach a little wider road, on which we continue the ascent. From the mentioned road we soon go right on a footpath which ascends through the forest, and after a short descent, we return on the road.
We continue on a marked road which few more minutes continues through the forest, and when we leave the forest, we continue on a panoramic ridge, where the path leads us past few houses. Further from the ridge we again pass on a slope and we get to a triangular crossroad in the middle of which there is a religious symbol.
Here we go left (straight - Gaj nad Mariborom) on the road, where an asphalt quickly ends, and then with nice views, we ascend to an asphalt road, where we join the driving road towards Sveti Urban.
We continue left and we pass into the forest, where we cross slopes. We quickly get to a crossroad, where a road branches off to the right towards the farm Hlade, and we continue straight and we soon leave the forest. Next follows a relatively short ascent past individual houses, and higher we already quite from close see the church of St. Urban. The path also ahead leads with nice views on surroundings, and from the left joins also a marked path from Maribor (path via Brunček).
We continue straight, and we leave the asphalt road at unmarked turn-off, where the path branches off to the right, which leads towards Sveti Urban.
Next follows a shorter diagonal ascent on a panoramic slope, and then we reach another road which we follow to the right. We walk on the road a minute more and we get to the church of St. Urban, from which a nice view opens up towards Maribor and surrounding hills.
