Innere Sommerwand

Description of mountain:
Sommerwand is a relatively long ridge, which is as a mighty rocky barrier rising above the upper part of the valley Oberbergtal and next to the ridge there is a hidden cirque, which has a smaller glacier Sommerwandferner, located between ridges Sommerwand and Knotenspitz.
Among several ridge peaks, for tourist interesting are only the highest and the lowest, Innere and Vordere Sommerwand; the latter is the only, on which leads a marked path and on which we can ascend without serious climbing or of the ascent on a glacier.
Innere Sommerwand is the only named peak in the ridge, which is higher than 3000 meters, and it is situated above the eponymous glacier on the south edge of the ridge Sommerwand, which is over the saddle Kräulscharte connected with the ridge Kräulspitz.
Although the path on Innere Sommerwand isn't marked and demands certain degree of mountaineering (orientational and climbing) abilities, the peak is in the view of a quite easy glacier without crevasses, primal ambience of the path and its unique view from the heart of the mountain range Alpeiner Berge quite popular; majority surrounding peaks is technically and orientationally more demanding, therefore Innere Sommerwand to a well prepared mountaineer represents one of the best opportunities for visiting the highest peaks of the mountain range Alpeiner Berge.
