Kalvarija (church of St. Barbara)

Description of mountain:
Kalvarija is a hill above town Maribor, which is largely planted with vineyards. To the top of the hill leads us 454 rocky stairs ("štenge" on Kalvarija). Near the stairs there is the church of St. Barbara. The church was built in order to thank the cessation of the spread of plague (1681).
From the top of the hill (375 meters) there is a nice view towards the entire town Maribor, river Drava and Mariborsko Pohorje. On the hill runs a nice hiking path which leads us among vineyards with beautiful views!
