Rifugio Vandelli / Lago di Sorapiss

Description of mountain hut:
The Lago di Sorapiss lake lies in the Sorapiss mountain group below the sheer walls of the highest peaks. Recognizable by its turquoise waters, it offers fine views primarily of the precipitous northern walls of nearby peaks. Nearby is the Rifugio Alfonso Vandelli hut, first built in 1821 right by the lake. Destroyed by an avalanche in 1895, it was rebuilt a few minutes' walk away.
