Belopeška jezera / Lago di Fusine - Poldnik (Kopa) / Picco di Mezzodi

Access to starting point:
From Kranjska Gora over the border crossing Rateče we drive towards Trbiž / Tarvisio. Soon after the border crossing, the road in the direction of lakes Belopeška jezera / Laghi di Fusine branches off to the left, which in a moderate ascent we then follow to a large parking lot at the lake Zgornje Mangartsko (Belopeško) jezero.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the left side of the inn on a macadam road until we get to a crossing of the paths 512 (Rif. Zacchi, Biv. Nogara, Mangart) and 514 (Bivio Sent 515, Cap. Fontana Fredda, Ortigara), where we turn right (514, also 515 Picco di Mezzodi) and we follow the signs for path 514. The path soon brings us on an ample meadow above the lake Zgornje Belopeško jezero, which we bypass on the right side on a macadam road. On the top of a meadow we go slightly left (we don't go straight) and then soon at the crossroad we go slightly right or straight (we don't go left) and we follow the path 514. Soon after the macadam forest road turns right we come on a smaller clearing, where we continue left uphill on a well visible footpath (straight is a hunting observatory). After that, the path quite quickly becomes steeper. Through a beech forest we are ascending until we get to the saddle Colrotondo (1400 meters) where we continue left (515 Picco di Mezzodi, also Bivio sent. 519). After a nicely routed footpath on the top of the ridge, again follows a steeper part, which soon brings us past a viewpoint (Monte Collarice (1485 meters)). Later, the steepness doesn't decrease, and mixed forest is replaced by dwarf pines and sections with scree. In the last part, we also have a rope for help, which helps us mostly at the descent into the valley. Above the most demanding part we come to a crossing, where we continue right - 515 Picco (left - 519 Alpe Moritsch). To the top, it isn't far anymore - after 10 minutes of ascending we are on the summit.
