The bottom station of the Pohorje funicular is located on the southern side of Maribor in Radvanj, with a large parking lot arranged next to it. To there we can come from several directions, in Maribor on more important crossroads there are signposts for Pohorje. If we drive to Maribor on the south arterial road, we follow it through Hoče and at the traffic light crossroad at the shopping malls we turn left (direction Radvanje), we continue on the road Lackova cesta and we follow signposts.
To the bottom station runs also city bus number 6.
Path description:
From the parking lot across a concrete small bridge we cross the stream, the building of the bottom station of Pohorje funicular we bypass on the right side and continue uphill on a well-visible footpath through a meadow parallel with the route of the cable car. Above the 2nd column the path turns right, bypasses the forest, and turns to the left. The steepness decreases slightly, we walk on track Čopova proga or in jargon »po Čopki« and arrive at Trikotna jasa (~25 min).
Here is located a high ropes course (adrenaline park), a little further is the upper chairlift station Radvanje and the bottom station of the chairlift Poštela, and a summer sledding ground is also arranged.
At the adrenaline park, we turn right upwards through a meadow, the path becomes steeper, on the northern side a view opens up on Maribor and its distant surroundings, and we arrive at the cottage Luka (~25 min). By the cottage, which is a catering facility, a tap with drinking water is installed by the fence, and on the open terrace, there are benches and tables.
Through the middle of the meadow or by the edge of the forest, we continue uphill, and at the top, at an advertising board on the hill Habakuk, the path turns right (~15 min). The steepness decreases, the comfortable path follows the route of the chairlift Sleme and brings us to the upper station of Pohorje funicular (~20 min).
The further path is orientationally undemanding; on the western side of the parking lot at the upper station of the funicular, we turn left and follow the blazes. The easy path then turns right into the forest; at the crossing, a signpost directs us to the left (from this spot, it is a 5-minute walk uphill to Mariborski razglednik); part of the path we walk on Rozikina forest teaching trail (yellow-blue blazes); the footpath runs above Aparthotel Pohorje (former Železničarski dom), briefly approaches the road, then immediately turns back into the forest and through the settlement of holiday cottages brings us to Mariborska koča (~40 min).
In contrast to Jonatanka, the described path is less steep and more frequently visited; especially up to Trikotna jasa or the cottage Luka, we will encounter many recreational walkers and strollers.
